Just curious... I thought I remembered seeing a CS Kim on the WTSDA charter, so I had to go look it up:) There is, but it's Chom San Kim, not Chun Sik Kim... Master Kim (ITF) arrived in the states around 1973 if I'm not mistaken, about 9 years before the WTSDA formed. Of course, I'm sure if they were part of the same organization at the same time, Master Hancock could give us an accurate answer. My knowledge of ITF history is even fuzzier than what I know of pre-WTSDA history:) I do find it interesting that they are both based in Pennsylvania though: GM Shin in Philly, and GM Kim near Pittsburgh. Was PA a hot spot for martial arts in the late sixties/early seventies?:) ...tm ------------------------------ From: "Jamaica Power" Date: Thu, 20 May 1999 07:04:04 PDT Subject: the_dojang: Martial Arts-Based Physical Therapy, Case Report There was a most excellent case report that I highly recommend to all martial artists in the May, 1999, Vol. 5, No. 3 edition of the magazine "Alternative Therapyies in Health and Medicine." The article was written by Patrick B. Massey, 6th degree black belt and Adam Perlman, 4th degree black belt along with their various other clinical and medical credentials. I have not read a clinical article of this magnitude on the success of treatment on a patient with chronic, midthoracic back pain and muscle spasms. She felt her quality of life was poor, sleep was interrupted by pain and she was chronically depressed. "She was told my several physicians and healthcare providers that she would most likely never be free from pain, and that she should "learn to live with it" and seek psychiatric are for the depression. On a program of adapted martial arts movements including but not limited to taekwondo, tai chi, kung fu (Wushu) bagway, moo doe, qigong and aikido the patient vastly improved. It is an excellent article and I do not do it justice here in this brief excerpt but I do encourage everyone to read it. jamaica _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. I know that Hwa Rang was the youth group in the Silla dynasty in the 7th century, but I think what they want is a literal translation of the words "Hwa Rang". Can anyone help me out here - I've looked through everything I have but can't find anything. TIA for any help you can give. ------------------------------ From: Greg Giddins Date: Thu, 20 May 1999 09:04:59 -0600 Subject: the_dojang: RE: Tang Soo Book Mr Callahan: I will get back to you on what EXACTLY is in the book after it arrives.
