I used to have problems with my knees in high school but now at 30 I have been pain free (even squatting 315lbs). My high school days also consisted of TKD. I am trying hard to not make the connection between martial arts and knee problems because I really love Hap Ki Do. Anyway, I know what to do for the pain (what little there is besides ice etc), but I am wondering if my kicking is the culprit. The computer then sets up the matches - and these are then printed off and posted around the tournament site and well as provided to the coaches.< The first tournament I went to in the Tacoma area had match numbering and I was very impressed by the organization of it all. I volunteered and my daughter competed, and we had a great time. Her next tournament was the everyone-sit-in-the-ring-until-it's-your-turn style, but she still knew when it would be her turn, because they were all sitting in order by rank and height. Unfortunately, they still had to sit forever in their hogus. It was her last tournament--she has since switched to gymnastics (but no competition yet, thankfully!) I strongly recommend the match system. Even if you allow late entries, it's still possible to make last minute matching adjustments. I didn't attend Jr Nationals, but I heard back that our champions' families were very frustrated with the organization (or lack thereof). Even so, of our four students, one still came back with a gold in forms and another with a gold in sparring. :-D Now if we could just get more people adjusted to the match numbering style of organization (and rent larger facilities for tournaments!).
