It is actually = the same question that I am writing about for the final part of my = blackbelt testing this week. Here it is: "If it's clean, it is beautiful, and If it's natural, it is perfect" My = instructor wants me to explain the statement, with regards to both = everday life, and tkd training, (mentally and physically). =20 Now, don't get me wrong, I am not trying to steal your ideas, I just = thought that, maybe I could get a few brainstorming points. (I already = have the tkd training part done, it's the everday life that I'm having = problems with). Anyways, take care everyone. I suspect that this digest is so quiet because most people are writing furiously on the TKD digest about gun-laws, hunting, the 2nd amendment(whatever that is), politics and why KKWTKD is better than HKD and the IHF.....whatever they are? So here's something about Martial arts. 2 Years ago our ITF club left, and joined the GTF. Since then everything has been much better, i.e. Better gradings, better competitions, they even let Scotland have its own association, as opposed to been part of the UK group. After all we are now vaguely independent! I realise things were difficult in the ITF in Britain, because of that old favourite...Politics! Does anyone else reading this list have dealings with the ITF and the GTF and comments on either? I sometimes spar in class with these young teenage boys who haven't quite reached adult size (I am 5'4"). They dance around, fly in the air etc. I figure with my experience, I should develop a few surprise moves of my own. Something a teenage boy wouldn't expect from someone older than his mom. I'm in pretty good shape (regular MA practice (TKD) for over 6 yrs). I am perfectly capable of developing these types of movements. I think one reason I don't do them is because most women my age have been told from day one that they can't jump or move around as well as men. It also doesn't help that I have been spending most of my time in a desk job for over 20 years. Even working out 1-2 hours per day can't compare to the activity level of a young man who runs jumps and plays around for 4-5 hours a day. So, to improve my stamina, footwork, and combinations I have been cross training by taking an aerobic kickboxing class. I am lucky in that the place I am taking the class they emphasize the boxing training more. The instructors were trained at a school run by an ex professional boxer. This class isn't MA, it is just a whole lot of fun and a great workout. The best advice I ever got in sparring is that you spar with your brain, not with your body. The kickboxing class is going to help my physical conditioning, but I need the advice of those with MA experience to know how to put it together to improve my sparring technique. I'm open to any comments or ideas on how to get this old dog up to speed with new tricks.
