Last Thursday toward \ the end of a great class, we were working on front splits. As I was standing \ up I felt my left knee pop three or four times. Kind of reminded me of popping \ my knuckles. No problem then. the next morning, my thigh was sore and \ tight. I couldn' walk up a flight of stairs. By Saturday, there was actual \ pain \ in the knee. I couln't walk without a lot of pain. Sunday and Monday \ (Labor Day) \ I laid off of the knee. No pain by Monday but I realized that any twisting \ motion caused the pain to return for an hour or so. \ \ Tuesday, I went to class and tried to take it easy on the knee. No escessive \ pain. Today it is stiff and my thigh is sore. \ \ I have never had knee problemsbefore. I have been in running events for \ years with \ no problems. \ \ What does it sound like to you? Ken, go see a doctor. I hurt my knee last year and tried to take it easy. After about a month I finally went to a doctor. I had to sit out for six months, wearing a knee brace 24 hours a day, until my knee healed. If I'd seen a doctor right off the bat I would have only had to sit out for about a month. - -David Buehrer - -- Supervisor, Database Preparation The UnCover Company mailto:dbuehrer@denver.carl.org - -- - -- "The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all of our lives." - -Einstein ------------------------------ From: 4karate@bellsouth.net Date: Thu, 09 Sep 1999 10:02:26 -0500 Subject: the_dojang: UPCOMING EVENTS UPCOMING EVENTS: AMERICAN DRAGONS MARTIAL ARTS 115 SOUTH MAIN STREET, RUSSELLVILLE,KY 270-725-8844 SATURDAY OCTOBER 16TH - 11:00 am ELIPTICAL THEORY IN STRIKING AND KICKING - Mr. John Hancock will illustrate how using eliptical motions in striking and kicking can transform technique, give clarity to the purpose of form movement, and add power to your kicks. Even if you were to get information from a doctor online it is not the same. The doctor would have to see the knee and would probably have some questions for you.
