Let's work on making this list the best ever everyone. Alain. Any news on when for sure your video is coming out? I'd like to place my order. Donna >> Donna, It will be featured as a new release in the November catalog from Paladin Press. The catalog should be mailed the last week of October. The Paladin ads in the magazines (Blackblet, etc) should feature it about that same time. The title of the video is Hapkido Hoshinsul. I do not know what price Paladin has put on it yet. My son custom wraps fishing rods, and the wrapping thread comes in an almost endless variety of color combinations. That way the player gets to personalize the set to the conventions of his or her style or art. I suppose you could even extend this concept to the uniform by utilizing doll-type clothing, but that might be a bit excessive;>) === Tang Soo! There is a mental aspect to the martial arts that I believe is absent in boxing. Martial arts, if you take the word "martial", which can be translated "stop sword" or "stop conflict", has peace as its goal. That's why I have difficulty with Kick-boxing, boxing, and even aspects of Tae Kwon Do being classified as a martial ART. Those 3 styles or sports have competition as their primary motivation and, of course, knocking out their opponent. Of course there is a mental game involved in boxing, but is it the kind of mental development that transcends the physical to make the person better? Can anyone honestly look at Leon Spinks, Buster Douglas, Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, even Sugar Ray Leonard or the 2 welter weights preparing to go at it, with all their arrogance and disrespect for their opponent (verbally) and say that they have risen to a new level mentally and spiritually? I think not. Fighting and brawling is not, in my book, the same as a STUDY of Hapkido, Soo Bahk Do, Aikido, Kung Fu, or any of the many, many other martial arts. ------------------------------ From: ChunjiDo@aol.com Date: Fri, 17 Sep 1999 11:24:20 EDT Subject: the_dojang: Re: chess kicks In a message dated 9/16/99 5:47:34 PM Pacific Daylight Time, the_dojang-owner@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com writes: << As you're looking straight down on a piece it shouldn't fill more than the square it's in.
