Any observations to share? >> Ray, I have.... I went with a group two years ago. It's an awesome building and beautiful martial art. The building is the "dream dojang", and the Korean Government spent millions on it. As far as the Taekkyon, it's different. Most people wouldn't recognize much TKD in it. The movements are so unusual that I had a hard time taking action photos, and I've been doing martial arts photography fo almost 20 years. I would think that it would be beneficial to speak Korean, since I didn't notice any English spoken there at that time. Has that changed? Yours, Andrew >> Andrew, I took a look at your dissertation and found it enjoyable and informative. I like the historical references and am glad you included the Bibliography. I'm familiar with some of the sources you sited, but look forward to being able to read some of the others some time. I plan on reading your dissertation more thouroughly later. Thank you for some great information! Great job! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS... being half-Korean isn't easy... sometimes Korean words will come in and replace the English words I can't think of at the moment, and the basic meaning (correct me if I'm wrong, anybody) is something like "back and forth". Like today, this morning was F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!!!!!!! *brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr* I took the trash out this morning and oculd see my breath. So I ended up breaking out my big navy blue marshmallow jacket, which is good for carrying my walkman in becaus then I can fall asleep and listen to my music if class gets boring... :) This afternoon it really started warming up, particularly after I ran aruond Collier Field house for P.E. right before lunch... then I sat in a really temperate classroom and walked home after school and realized that it was getting a lil' warm in my jacket. It's at least 15°C right now... just an estimate... Sorry if I confuse anybody now or in the future with my "Konglish" tendencies... been part of my life for 17 years now, can't really expect to change. :) ===== Kim Jones (ladytimberland@yahoo.com) Webpage - http://members.tripod.com/NekoChan00/ AOL IM - OmegaKage IcQ - 46316779 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Couldn't find a single pharmacy or medical supply store that carried anything but those dopey lookin' dust masks that 3-m makes! Maybe it's for the best. Probably would have spent the entire shift feeling lousy _and_ explaining to every dingleberry in town what I was up to, then ward off their incredulous looks. . . - --chaney []/:^) ------------------------------ From: samiller@Bix.Com Date: Mon, 04 Oct 1999 09:02:39 -0400 (EDT) Subject: the_dojang: Re: V6 #474: X-training & teaching At our dojang, the curriculum is limited to Tang Soo Do & hapkido joint locks & throws. Up to the level at which I practice (cho dan), there isn't much chance of confusing the two sets of techniques (OTOH, confusion _between_ sets of HK techniques is one of my specialties;>) It does seem likely that "leakage" would be a problem if two or more very similar arts were taught simultaneously, and I'm not sure how that should be handled.
