Then, use it to the full extent necessary to control the situation and end the conflict. >> Friends, I totally agree with this assessment. 100%. Do the job immediately, and get the hell away immediately, too. But I'd also submit that getting in any kind of physical altercation just because a drunken fellow was "hitting on a friend's ladyfriend," sounds unnecessary. Of course I was not there, etc... Nevertheless, the cost if fighting - on all levels - is just about always much higher than simply leaving the scene before violence erupts. I know this to be true from unfortunate experience. My advice is to save the fighting for in the ring by any means possible, including running away. Highly intoxicated people can't run too fast or too far. [rhetorical question] Basics, hand attack defenses, stick/sword defenses, firearm defenses, knife defenses? They all take time to learn (unlike the Matrix school) and to become proficient in. If an instructor spends eight hours a day five days a week with a student and they still fall victim to violence should the instructor blame themselves for not spending 12 hours a day with the student? I think not. You may not have meant your last sentence the way I took it, but it sounds like you're blaming the instructors for her death - please say I got it wrong. Of course he then goes on to criticize the WTF for having a non-martial artist as their President. I guess you just can't please some people ;) .
