So new arts are not certified, except by the test of time and their proven effectiveness. You have your ten (or nine?) color belt ranks (not colors, but ranks) and the ten black belt (dan) ranks. Of course, the discussion has gone on that the 10th dan rank is a posthumous honor bestowed based on...I forgot but I know I read it.
