And I got quite an education on the types of swords / weapons that you use in your training there. Thank you! Your right ... you didn't send me to any one sword maker ... but you did give me a good point on which to start. Thanks for the website address ... I will go there and shop around. I already have a bokken, a shinai, and an unsharp sword that I can use that I am comfortable with. Now on to the classy sharp sword. :-) Illona Illona ------------------------------ From: HKDTodd@aol.com Date: Wed, 19 Jan 2000 08:50:29 EST Subject: the_dojang: Swords As some of you know I practice a Korean Art called Chung Suk Guhapdo. In Guhapdo we use the wooden practice sword, practice sword with a dull blade, practice sword with a sharp blade (this is generally heavier than a real sword), real sword (forged & folded blade). I get my swords in Korea from the Jung Ki Kwan. The JKK get there swords from Master Kim, Yun Il. The swords are all made to fit the practitioner and they are very personal and yes expensive but if you are into swordsmanship in the truest sense nothing else will do. I just passed my orange belt test. Even at 35 years old, I watch higher belts run through their forms, and it all seems a bit overwhelming. Sources of information like this one seem priceless to me. My ultimate goal is to teach, and even with the wealth of information and training and individual attention that my Master gives me, lists like this give exposure to others like me that are "lifestyle" Martial Artists. Thank you for this list, and the opportunity to learn from it Mr. Ray. This is the way it should be, re: a cooperative agreement among martial artists. Those of you who are reluctant to post for fear of retaliation on another list= shame on you ! Those senior members and Masters who are not posting due to warnings from another list moderator=double shame on you. You reached a certain level in your professional life where you are beholden to no particular individual or political agenda. Glad to see the cooperative spirit with this list and other lists. Keep up the good work and continue to share important information among your peers, students, and fellow martial artists. This list sends out positive karma.
