Congratulations Jonathan on passing your 1st degree TKD. now, what do we call you .. first dAn or first dOn..?? Your right, the learning does begin after that first big step. I think one of the things you begin to learn after black belt is that it's not all about kicking and punching. The whole thing about martial arts is that it's like a chess game. A 2nd dan fella I used to train with before I got my black belt once told me that after a BB competition he was more mentally exhausted than physically. I never got a warning form anyone, but I wonder, though...how about Alain? How about Master J. R. West? How about Master Silz? I noticed that these others were posting on both, so I thought that maybe things had opened up. Too bad. One of the other lists has had a discussion on "Sport vs. Art" and what the differences are. Since I can't post there anymore, I'll give my opinion here: A sport is what you are taught when you're a kid and someone says, "It's my ball and we'll play by my rules!" I think I like the art better. Steve Kincade ------------------------------ From: "J. R. The dimensions were copied from my cutting blade and a prototype will be available during our upcoming seminar in Feb.. He is expecting the cost to be well below $400 US for a good quality cutting blade. If you have any interest in getting more information, send me your address and I will forward it to my student..........J. R. I apologize it this has been posted before. Please go to this website and register TKD as your favorite olympic sport. http://www.nbcolympics.com/ If enough people express an interest, perhaps NBC will aire it. The only information you are required to give is your name, email address, and zip code. You will be given the opportunity to indicate which other sports, you like. Please support your fellow martial artists by indicating Judo, Shooting, and Wrestling as your altenate choices. Look on the lower left side of the screen for the word "register". Thanks! Anyone out there working on integrating the 'hooks' of catch/submisson wrestling into the ground-work portion of your training program? i.e. the art of Lou Thesz, Tony Cecchine, Karl Gotch, Billy Robinson.
