It appears that I may NOT have been cut off by someone else, although I received a note from the system saynig I was "Not a member" (along with several other odd replies) when I tried to unsubscribe. Unless I know for sure that this was done by someone else, I would rather not make an issue of it further.....JRW ------------------------------ From: Dave Steffen Date: Thu, 20 Jan 2000 11:30:08 -0700 (MST) Subject: the_dojang: Movies > From: Ray Terry > Now if I could just score a copy of GM Ji's movie, Hapkido. Wasn't > it also released under the title Lady KungFu? It was indeed. I've got a terrible copy-of-a-copy-of-a-copy of it. Cheesy, but GM Ji's demo is awesome. Apparently he snapped Sammo's arm with that reverse hook kick / takedown / arm bar maneuver, and they had to stop filming for 6 months. Now that I recall I think one time I made the same mistake and up popped a S and M theme. Will check later today. My bad. Or, maybe to some readers, my good ? The next day I was dropped from the other list with no explanation and Glenn didn't answer my e-mail asking him why I wasn't on the list any more. Hey, he doesn't even respect the wishes of his own Grandmaster so why should he give any to the rest of us. I have decided that there is no point in worrying about his childish ways. I post infrequently in any event and while I will miss some of the data available from the good people on the other list (many of whom are being banished anyway), none of us should bend to this kind of petty tyranny, so good bye to Glenn and ilk. Yes, it is there. You can become a member and it is a good alternative source for the aforementioned grappling arts and "mixed martial arts" genre. They have fantastic training and video offers periodically. Now, there is also www.submission.com. That is a little different and deviates from martial arts discussions. You make the call/choice ! He is not specifically the greatest martial artist of all time, but his films are very innovative in fight choreography. " In his book he specifically states that what he does in the movies is just that, for the movies. He has never claimed to be a fighter, however, don't let that fool you. He is trained in both Southern and Norther styles of kung fu (from his opera days) as well as Hapkido, TKD and boxing. Match that with someone who isn't really afraid of pain, and you do have a interesting fighter. I've always enjoyed Jackie Chan even as a Teenager watching Super Samurai Sunday flicks (Local TV station used to show kung fu flicks every Sunday). Plus he is a very generous man, he gives a lot to charities and orphanages around the world.
