I've not encountered any soreness. When I've done them on a regular basis, I've made progress with the height of my kicks from the flexibility increase. Unfortunately, I haven't really comitted this practice to habit. The biggest problem I've had in following Kurz' methods is that the sequence of types of exercise we do in class conflicts with his desirable sequence. >Have you tried the techniques in Scientific Stretching? Did they work >for you? My experience with dynamic stretching without a preceding >warmup was extremely sore hamstrings. === Tang Soo! However, as a former semi-pro football player with 15 years of coaching in football and wrestling, and endless boring (but useful) sports medicine seminars, I would like to interject only this. In my experience, I have found that bodies are different. Some people, like me, require a lot of pre-workout stretching, some can side-kick 6 feet cold. By and large, I always recommended light jogging for 6-8 min. to pre warm the muscles, and then 10- 15 minutes of stretching to prevent injury. That is really the only reason for pre-workout stretching, as flexibility can only be attained through stretching thouroughly warm, even exhausted muscles after working out or running. As I stated, this is a by and large statement, not a blanket. Different people have different bodies, and react differently. I don't think that there is a "rule" for everyone, but I thought that I would offer this from my experiences working with literally thousands of kids and adults in football on every level, and coaching several National, and on World champion wrestlers. Thank you for your information and input, I am learning more every day I get my e-mail.
