Iooked at the NBC Olympic broadcast schedule and it does not list any TKD :p maybe a letter writing campaign is in order? I want to see it live from my home, I hope at least pay-per-view is available Sam "Couch potato do" Stratton 1st Dan WTF ------------------------------ From: "Ron Bain" Date: Sat, 5 Feb 2000 15:51:34 -0500 Subject: the_dojang: WTF: Sport to Art Hi Everyone, Curious as to your thoughts and views on this one. It's been rumoured (and possibly acknowledged) that Kukkiwon Officials are working on ways to bring the "art" back into TKD. Not sure if this is a "de-emphasis" on WTF sparring, or a shift to add more to the requirements in terms of HKD/HSS/1 steps etc. Any thoughts on this... what they should/shouldn't add etc? Does anyone have further info on this? I studied Hapkido for several years with Master Gedo Chang of Lombard Il and Master Kang Hoon Lee downtown Chicago. I currently train under Master Pellegrinis Combat Hapkido system and am 1st degree black belt. I also train in Brazilian Jujutsu under Carlson Gracie Jr. in Chicago. I find both of these systems to be very realistic and combat oriented and pretty well fit my martial arts needs. The thing I find most appealing about both of these systems, is that even though Ive trained in "traditional" Japanese Jujutsu and Hapkido, the realistic aspects were never really focused on as they are im my present training. I am one of those that believe that the true test of a martial art is its effectiveness on the street. Ive been studying for about 15 years...Jujutsu, Hapkido, Aikido, and Tae kwon Do.
