I'll let you know more as I find out. Silke Schulz ------------------------------ From: BTBEACH@aol.com Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2000 12:52:18 EST Subject: the_dojang: Alain's Book and Video I have finished viewing / reading Alain Burrese's video "Hapkido Hoshinsul" and Hard-Won Wisdom From the School Of Hard Knocks. " They are both great resources and are a great compliment to one another. The video is well laid out. It follows a logical progression. The techniques are broken down in different into the different joints attacked (wrist, elbow, shoulder) are shown how they are applicable from different attacks or as offensive maneuvers. It is a good representation of basic Hapkido techniques. The book leads you through the when and why's of the techniques, hapkido or otherwise, can be applied. Alain is a good story teller and his anecdotes get the point across. He is not preachy in conveying his knowledge. He is someone who has been there and tells it like it is. One of Alain's premises is control self and otherwise. It goes along with an axiom I've held for myself "Control yourself or someone else will do it for you."
