ESPN Scholastic Sports America will be covering the Indy Cup. Specifically they want to do a story on some Junior athletes who show promise or (in the best case scenario) are medalists from Junior Olympics. I need two athletes from state other than Indiana that will be here. ESPN based here and were told to showcase athletes from states other than IN. I have already approached other instructors about this. Of course, everyone looks at your page so if you can post it that would be great. Because my tournament is set up so that you can enter on event day, I will not know who may show up. If you have any suggestions, please forward them to me. We'll miss having you at the tournament, but I know how new jobs can be. ADDED NOTE: Indy Cup will have ring mats (no hard floor this year) and electronic scoring (similar to USTU scoring system). Hope to hear from you soon! - --Garth Cooley ------------------------------ From: samiller@Bix.Com Date: Fri, 25 Feb 2000 16:16:55 -0500 (EST) Subject: the_dojang: Re: V7 #129 2 thoughts Not that I've never been off topic, but;>)... I understand the concept of ma as a metaphor for life. On the other hand, that reasoning could be used to justify opening a discussion on this list on virtually any topic. YMMV, but that isn't why I'm on this list instead of rec.martial.arts or some free-form, free-for-all generic discussion/flame bulletin board. >MA seem to me to be a microcosm of life. and in life there are things like >politics and sexism. instead of having a knee-jerk reaction and saying >things like they don't belong as a topic of discussion on this digest, >let's >talk about how they do. === Tang Soo! Scott ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Fri, 25 Feb 2000 14:39:00 -0800 (PST) Subject: the_dojang: Hapkido (aka Lady KungFu) Last night I watched the (1972?) movie Hapkido (AKA Lady KungFu) briefly starring GM JI Han-jae. I didn't realize that I had previously viewed this movie many years ago. Funny, it was dubbed in English with Dutch subtitles. When they used the term Hapkido they seemed to dub the dub with the word Hapkido. They kept referring to Hapkido as a Chinese art, so I'm assuming the original dubbing used the word Kung Fu in place of Hapkido. ?? Few glimpses of Hapkido in the movie, mostly Kung Fu style fighting. In one group class shot the students are doing Basic Kick #1. GM JI's demo near the start of the movie was very impressive. The previous post entitled "perceptions", developed out of several intermediate communications. Some of the dialog may be construed differently than intended since all of the context is not available to list members. I received a copy of this post privately. I did not give my permission to post these comments publicly. I will not respond to them as such.
