Is he still head of the Ki Do Hae? Someone on one of the other lists posted the guess that he's probably leaving the KukSool organization to concentrate on his responsiblities in the KidoHoe, which I think makes the most sense. I must've missed this. Is it possible you misunderstood the poster's intent? Personally, I love Hapkido because I believe it is a complete art, and let me define the word complete. By this I don't mean that it contains every martial arts technique ever known, or that it definitely has THE answer to each and every self defense situation that could ever arrise. To me, Hapkido is complete in that, in my opinion, it deeply covers all the major types of combat, of physical activity, of fighting strategy, of ranges of combat, and of physical fitness, at least in the dojangs where I've been fortunate to practice. Is Hapkido groundfighting more complete than BJJ? No. Are Hapkido players better boxers than boxers? No. Can Hapkido players all kick better than any Taekwondo player? No. But in Hapkido, you *will* be exposed to groundfighting, to varied and powerful hand strikes, to demanding and effective kicking, as well as to defenses against all of these. Plus you'll get an excellent workout, breath control, meditation techniques, exposure to weapons and how to defend against them, and more. Hey, if I didn't think it was best, why would I do it? (Please Read) Open Letter to Chulmin Lee and the Martial Artists subscribing to the Dojang Digest, This announcement is another piece of propaganda that has emerged from the offices of the World Kuk Sool Association. First, I am the Son in Law of In Sun Seo and would know if this is true. Second, the truths of of Mr. Lee's statements are: Grandmaster In Hyuk Suh is going to Korea on Wednesday for the purpose of meeting with Masters who may have left the Korea Kuk Sool Association. Since he left Korea in 1973, he has had minimal contact with Korea Kuk Sool. The statements that are false: Chiefmaster In Sun Seo has not resigned his position of leadership in the Korea Kuk Sool Association. I ask the World Kuk Sool Association to offer proof of this; perhaps a letter of resignation? Or does such a thing only exist in the minds and wishes of a few? The Korea Kuk Sool Association is the only Kuk Sool Association that is formally recognized by the Korea KIDO Association. The World Kuk Sool Association is not a registered Asssociation of either the Korea KIDO Association or the World KIDO Federation. The implications of this are wide ranging; for example, none of the DAN rankings of World Kuk Sool Association Black Belts are recognized by the Korean Government since Grandmaster In Hyuk Suh's departure from Korea in 1973; except those of the World Kuk Sool Association whose DAN is actually from the Korea Kuk Sool Association; the majority of the High Ranking Masters from Korea. It is unfortunate that accouncements that factually incorrect be spread as truth, often doing more harm than the limited good orginally intended! Donna asked: Response: I can only talk from a certain perspective since I have never owned a school and really not at the level to run one. However, a good friend of mine in California was a stationary supplier for a well known company. He was excellent at his job. A Japanese Company offered him an even better job. After consulting with several people and family members he decided to go full time in the school he was operating after his 9 to 5 job. He then increased adult hours, turtle tots classes, lunch time classes, and private lessons. Thereafter, he expanded to two schools. He is a happy man. You must have some talent since you have been offered the school. Deal with the fear factor, get answers from readers here, read books on martial arts schools and business practices--and go for it. If you dont you will regret not doing it 2 years from now. Ken McDonough __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo!
