Students were pulled or pushed into positions that were very painful. I have been taught, as a nationally certified coach, that overstretching tears muscles and tendon and the scarring can reduce flexibility. On the other hand, many Koreans are very flexible and do not appear injured. What accounts for this difference? Can anyone explain the theory behind Korean stretching principles? >>>> What we must remember is that Koreans by shear fact of how they live their lives are more flexible....whether in TKD or not. They sit on the floor crossed legged on regular basis. I find that Koreans just do not understand that people can become so inflexible. I think they think we are just not trying hard enough. I have found the Koreans that have been here in this country a while living our way, become inflexible too. I see the advertisements all the time but am skeptical. Please let me know what you think. The other question is not meant to open Pandora's Box, but is instead genuine curiousity. Maybe someone will say something that will help me answer the question myself. Why do you train (e.g. fitness, hobby, self defense, other, especially other). Thank you. I have been trying to figure out who from that area is training my uncle. My dad told me the other day he had taken it up. Go figure. He cannot let his niece show him up. :) Apparently it is my uncle's son-in-law training him. (shows you how much I keep track of my relatives) I hadn't seen him in 2 yrs so it had surprised me. 2 yrs ago he showed up at the Karner Blue Butterfly fest here in Black River Falls WI where I was passing out pamphlets promitting our business and he teased the heck out of me. Now I find he is not only in it but is also a brown belt. He caught up to me the bugger!! Maybe we will have to see who reaches BB first. I have seen some books on forms, and different books on techniques. Any suggestions regarding purchasing good hapkido material? List member Alain Burrese's book Hard Won Wisdom may soon be out of print. Now is a good time to pick up a copy before it is too late. I recommend the book. Ray Terry =========================================================================== Forwarded message: From: ABurrese@aol.com Date: Sun, 9 Apr 2000 13:22:13 EDT Subject: HARD WON WISDOM Greetings, I hope this note finds you well. After talking to Paladin Press this week, it has been determined that they will drop HARD WON WISDOM FROM THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS. Thank you to all of you for your support. I will get the rights to the book back, and have already been looking at alternate ways to publish the book and keep it in print. Right now, Bob Orlando's suggestion of iuniverse.com looks like it might be a good way for me to go, since I don't have the money for self-publishing at the moment due to law school expenses. The main thing is I will have it published again, and I think it will do better than it had since I am starting seminars and such this summer that will help sales. If nothing else, I'll show Paladin that they made a mistake. :-) Yeah, that arrogant cockiness of the airborne sniper is still in me, maybe I keep it reigned in a bit better than when younger, but I still have it. And I will get HARD WON WISDOM back on it's feet and do things to make it sell better than before. BTW: One of the three books I'm working slowly on right now is about Sniper Strategies for Success! Thanks again! For those of you that ordered a book from Paladin, you should be able to get a copy, but they were running real low. If you couldn't get it, I have a few until I get it published elsewhere, or you can wait for the new one. Depending on the price the new publisher puts on it, it could be cheaper then. It's not that I'll get rich with this book, but I don't want to see it unavailable, especially when the seminars are just starting. So, thank you and all the best, Alain http://members.aol.com/aburrese/ ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Sun, 9 Apr 2000 15:27:38 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [none] ------------------------------ End of The_Dojang-Digest V7 #231 ******************************** It's a great day for Taekwondo!
