I guess I'm a bit confused here. I wish MY parents had let me make all the decisions about raising myself! Hell, I could have skipped school all together! Wow, how neat! Just curious: why is she so attached to a man that you say has been abusive? Sounds a bit scary to me. I wish you both luck. One correction, me and "Lone Wolf" (My 78 CJ) well, we are inseparable. As I write this I am in my Jeep, and I often sleep in my Jeep to get away from the wife. Lone Wolf understands this and never argues with me. Just keep a few quarts of oil in her and she is happy. Yes, I would give my life up for Lone Wolf. The places we been, the things we have seen...well, Lone Wolf knows. You just wouldn't understand. Cheers, McD... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I know even if my child wanted to stay I would take over with a mom knows best attitude. There is no way I would allow him to do this to my child. There are other instructors out there who can produce winners w/o this attitude. He failed in my opinion. She lost because of his behavior. Her mind was not focused on the match. If he had left her alone she probally could have won. Such decisions should not be made by children who may not have the maturity to see the issue clearly. In spite of my long standing belief that basically one should not interfere in how parents raise their children, the single exception is when the child is at risk for emotional abuse, physical abuse, or sexual abuse. Have some guts, lady and pull your daughter out of that school now. You got good advice and a lot of encouragement to end this. Now be a parent, instead of a spectator and act. Substitute boyfriend or husband for Taekwondo teacher. Is the behavior still acceptable? Personally, NO ONE touches my children or gets in their face, whether it's a teacher, coach, church leader, etc. I believe you're doing your daughter a disservice by teaching this is an acceptable way for others to treat her. I got The_Dojang-Digest #243 today (Tuesday, the 18th of April) although it was sent on the 13th of April. I don't know how this happened, because in the mean time I've been getting the other (later) issues. I wasn't giving much attention to the numbers of The_Dojang (I will from now on), so it is possible that I haven't got some more issues. If anyone else has responded to my question, and of course to Miss Jones and Mr Burrese, thank you very much. I really appreciate it. In the same issue, Mr Richards wrote: > From: "Moja Kwan - C. I'm very interested in your statement that "non-steroid body builders" do squats to expand the rib cage. Can you explain that? I've been doing some body building myself, and as far as I know, squats are being done to strengthen your thighs (OK, not solely, perhaps abdominal muscles and calves are getting something from the exercise too but the effect is very minor), but the rib cage? Maybe you were thinking of another exercise? If not, please explain this. By the way, what do you folks think of the effect of body building to Tae Kwon Do abbilities. I don't mean the professional body building with anabolic steroids, other chemical garbage, and lifting 150 or 200 kg (300 - 400 pounds) weights. I mean working in the gym once (or twice) a week with reasonable weights, mostly on upper part of the body. Do you think it could effect TKD abbilities in negative manner? Not for somebody who is preparing for The Olympics, but for an ordinary person that practices TKD and perhaps have some plans for going to competitions. All responses and thoughts are very welcome. I was wondering though, I have this intense fear of re-injuring it. Before the surgery I knew that the damage had been done and so I didn't worry about injuring it more, but now I am very concerned. I was back to class on Sat and I can't do much training (no jumping, spinning or twist kicks which in TKD limits it a lot) I can coach and ref:) What little kicking I did do (front kick and a few turning kicks) There was a fair amount of pain (which is to be expected) but above all I was so worried about re hurting it. Has anyone had this kind of experience? Any words of advice? Thanks Sandy Gecko K.
