Today I heard for a Hawaiian martial art Kuialua (I'm not sure if this is the correct name), and since I don't know anything about it, I would appreciate if anyone could send some informations about it. Thanks, Mitar P. S. Mr Burrese, I wish you and your fiancee (sorry for forgetting the name) all the best in your lives. "c. I would place the US Seal and Ranger training up against any ROK special forces team." I don't have any knowledge as to how hard the US training is... but i do know how hard the korean training is... i've dabbled in a bit of it myself, and i know a lot of koreans who've come over from korea with stories galore... just a question... how hard is the US SF training?? could they do the same things using a lower level of tech? 1 meal a day?? just wanna know Arthur> Response: I recall when I was in the Navy there was always this reverence for U.S. Navy Seals. Recently I reviewed a documentary on U.S. Navy Seal training on the cable TV show A & E. I was completely suprised on how difficult the training is. The dropout rate is huge. Then after the filtering out process, they have a week of non-sleep and hardly any food. I believe it is called Hell Week or BUDS Training. These guys train in cold icy water. Sleep little, and then are pushed to the limit. Also, I understand that they are one of the few special elite services that carry the ultimate in modern weapon technology. I am basing this on what I have seen on TV. But, I believe there are a few Masters on this list who may have actually trained Special Forces. Note that I am not into the Seals are better than the ____. I am merely recounting what I have seen. The training and endurance tests these Seals go through is simply amazing ! The mastery of survival techniques and weapons is unsurpassed. These people are BAD___S ! Ken McD... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? His ITF has gradually declined and is now no longer a major force in the onward march of taekwondo. I don't want to offend anyone on the list but I have to take strong exception to the above statement from the roundhousemag.com article. I can't say that the Gen. Choi had a stranglehold I Taekwon-Do as I was not involved then. I have been with the ITF for over a dozen (I know, I'm just a baby in the arts) and haven't seen any decline in Taekwon-Do as presented by the ITF. I know that there have been some people leave but I also know that others have joined the ITF. The number of ITF 7th Dan masters continues to grow. There are now three ITF Grand Masters (besides General Choi). ITF world competition continues to grow in size and quality. The ITF has signed an agreement with ESPN to broadcast future events. I know this isn't the same as being an olympic event but then I'm not sure that the association with the IOC has been the best thing for the WTF what with the various scandals involving IOC folks. I truly believe that the future of Taekwon-Do is dependent on cooperation between the two major organizations. I don't hold out very much hope for a merger between the two groups as there have been to many modifications and changes in philosophy. Maybe there can be a friendlier relationship between the groups. I think that groups like this list can help to make that happen. After all what is the martial arts legacy that current Taekwon-Do practitioners would like to leave? This is a true and accurate statement and should not be offensive to anyone. While Grandmaster Han,Bong Soo did study with Do Ju Ji, for quite sometime and does give credit in reference to that He like many of the others may feel that more people knew who Grandmaster Choi, Yong Sul was and therefore being aligned with him would give them more clout. That is the only conclusion that I can come up with at this time. Dan ------------------------------ End of The_Dojang-Digest V7 #283 ******************************** It's a great day for Taekwondo!
