We will be having a seminar here in the richmond, va area in august on kupsoo hoshinsul, which will cover the 40 master points of the body. If any one is interested, please email me. It will be run by a KHF master, and will be at a good friend of mine's school. This way you will actually be able to experience kupsoo hoshinsul, while watching me get tortured :) Frank Clay ------------------------------ From: Ken & Lisa Reff Date: Sun, 11 Jun 2000 14:24:44 -0500 Subject: the_dojang: Re: dillman book ISBN# Jason, The one I have is his 2nd (I believe): Advanced Pressure Point Fighting of RyuKyu Kempo ISBN 0-9631996-3-3 Ken Reff ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Sun, 11 Jun 2000 14:15:31 -0700 (PDT) Subject: the_dojang: Clark's book Rick Clark's book on pressure points is available from Amazon and/or from our website, http://www.martialartsresource.com. Various ways. Two that I like are (1) step back and the side or back kick, or (2) step in blocking with both forearms and then make appropriate use of your elbows. You have accumulated a wealth of information (to say nothing of opinions). Thanks for your efforts! Any thoughs of putting it all together in a book? However, there are a couple of thngs I'm a bit confused about. If you could address a couple of small issues I'd appreciate it. To what extent did the original kwans practice the same martial art? If their arts were indeed different, when the kwans become unified under the name "Taekwon-Do", did they give up their individual styles in favour of one art? Or, was the term Taekwon-Do used in a generic sense to refer to most, if not all, Korean martial arts. And what is the current status quo? Several older posts I came across referred to the idea of the history of Taekwon-Do being thousands of years old, as more or less being the political ideology (party line) of the WTF. Is this true, false, a little of both? Thanks Carl W. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Sun, 11 Jun 2000 19:23:25 -0700 (PDT) Subject: the_dojang: history of korean martial arts For a good website on the the history of korean martial arts, esp. speculation on its role in pre-history, check out list member Andrew Pratt's website at http://members.aol.com/torm1358/maframe.htm. Trust me, I'm no expert... But I believe that most were pretty much Karate-do-like with the Chung Do Kwan's LEE Won-kuk holding the most advanced formal rank of the various Kwan founders, a 3rd Dan in Shotokan.
