The 2 types I have are a regular thickness Macho headgear, and a Century Warrior(thicker) version. Since you live in a hockey area, the face shield will be easy. Itech and a few others make a clear face shield for hockey helmets. Find a new one (probably about $40 cdn) or a used one (about $15 cdn). Take the useless elastic ties that come with most foam dip foot gear, and use them to secure the hockey faceguard to the holes in the foam dip headgear. For an even cheaper version, use the plastic dipped wire mesh cage. All of these have protected my mug from the wonderfully clean toenails and shoes of headhunters. When I was up in Lethbridge recently, I cleaned out the local shops of their better used masks.....better price there than here in the US!!!....on a side note, are the Tigers still the current MH whl team? Does anyone on this list know him or have worked with him? He seems very knowledgeable and I am just wondering what others experience with Mr. Macyoung are. I specifically bought the tape on surviving a knife fight since we spend NO time in my TKD class on this issue. The video seemed credible and the techniques looked practical. >> I have read all ten of Marc's books, watched all of his videos, worked with him, trained with him, stayed with him while looking for own apartment, and on and on. He is a good friend and he knows a lot about fighting and violence. I have recommended his books, tapes, seminars before. He wrote the forward for my book with Paladin. He just got back two weeks ago from Poland where he was training cops. (we are hoping to go over together one of these times) What else you want to know? It is the best and toughest Korean language school here. Actually, Master Chon (my first teacher in Hapkido) had a US Army student who learned from him before he came to the US. She studied at Yonsei, but she found it too difficult, so she transferred to an easier program. Although I am training in Hapkido in Korea, my main goal is language training in order to prepare for East Asian Studies at the graduate level. Between school, work, and applying for grad school, there's precious little time for training, but I'm making "best efforts." Have you found them yet? Yup -- we visited them today. They've recently switched from "HapKiDo" to "HanKiDo" apparently because of a switch of affiliations with some organization or the other. Do you know much about the differences? > There is a TSD school down in Fremont, but that is perhaps too far away > for you. Not much TSD/SBD here in the Bay Area. Yes -- Fremont is a bit more of a commute than Kate can really commit to making daily as a graduate student. > Have you checked out the Kuk Sool school? You might like that... Your former Sa Bum John Goodwin, was a student of Kuk Sool Won Kuk Sul Won (from the hour's worth of what I saw today) seems to offer a mix of TSD, HapKiDo, and some other things (24 weapons forms, more gymnastics than TSD or HKD). I think that this is what we're leaning towards at this point ... thanks!
