There was a copy sold on e-bay recently but I stopped paying attention after about $70.00. But, I suspect the original 1965 version is very very hard to find, so getting it for almost any price is reasonable. My first though was draw a blade and cut your way out. Could be overreacting but I doubt it. Mr Rogers There isn't much I can add to what Meghan posted. Espcially since she is one of the best sources for this kind of information I have ever known. But if there is anything I would highlite in her post the concept of striking back at them I would consider essential. Mobs gain momentum with time. The more you do to slow their momentum the better your chances of escaping or dispersing the mob mentality. Also from watching the video (which gets me so mad I have to start in on the heavy bag) The mob seems to think that it's all in fun. Dropping a few of them in their tracks would change that and they would have to take a different line of thinking. Also most mobs are started by just a few leaders. Drop them and you have taken a good step to slowing the rest down. Most of the people around wouldn't part take in the action but they didn't help either. Maybe they didn't care, but more likely they were scared or didn't understand what was really happening. If you can make enough of a scene then you are more likely to draw in people that would help you out. I also agree that by that point you don't have to worry much about escalating the situation. It is already physically dangerous at best, and with the mobs momentum will likely escalate the situation even if you don't do anything. Espcially important are the tips for what to do after the assault. If you notice there where reports of many more women that were attacked then there were police reports afterwards. What's the going rate for >this book and how difficult is it normally to obtain? >Sincerely, >Anders Torvill Bjorvand Hi Anders, When it comes to books, being a collector myself I have come to hold the following philosophy: If you really want a book, it only comes along once in a while (rare), and you can still afford to buy food & pay your rent after its purchase, no price is too high! A word on Choi Hong-yi's books here. Choi's first book is pretty interesting, a nice thing for the historian to have. Published by Daeha in 1965 (Seoul, S. Korea), Choi signs himself as a "9th Degree", and "President, the Taekwon-Do Association" (pg. 12) . Choi as a younger man in a suit (7), and smashing 2 pine boards with a side Su to (13), as well as Jhoon Rhee w/ early students in Washington DC (8). The techniques are pretty much ike the rest of Korean TSD/TKD at the time--no different from Shotokan with the exception of some higher kicking. Part 5, entitled "Patterns in Taekwon do", and chapter 12 explains the names & meanings of the newly created Chang-hon patterns (pre-juche). Chapter 13 introduces froms from "The Sho-rin & Sho-rei Schools". Note the names used are the Japanese and not Okinawan common names of these forms (also using the Japanese, not Korean, pronounciation), including heian 1-5, bat-sai, en-bi, ro-hai, kou-shang-kouh, tet-ki, jit-ti, han-getsu, ji-on. For all of the hyung, there is a complete written description usually accompanied by a photo or two for the whole form. Each hyung gets about one page of space. In "A Note on the Author" at the end of the book, we are told that: "The Author [Choi] is the only man in the world to hold the 9th degree black belt, the highest. At the age of 45 he still commands a destructive capability in either hand or foot to an extraordianry degree."(295) With the exception of the tolerant attitude towards Japanese hyung (216) and the 9th dan, most of the information here is exactly the same as that in Choi's later book Taekwon-Do, and his 15 volume encyclopedia. I personally was somewhat disappointed with the encycolpedia. All those volumes, all those pages, and no new historical photos, no clearer explanations (we had to wait for it to come out in Taekwondo times!). The same info is just spread over more pages. I believe he could have done it in a more efficient manner. I had been looking for it for about ten years at that point. Luckily I only had to pay $30 for it! At the time I was pretty happy as that is a good price for almost any hardcover book these days. I was even more happy when I began hearing that it was quite a bit less expensive than many other people have had to pay. Taekwon, Chris "Every experience of beauty points to infinity."
