Now, I have only seen videos of the demos (getting kicked multiple times in the 'nuts', ridgehand strikes to the adams apple, etc), but a friend that I trained with ~30 years ago got to do some of the striking. He couldn't understand how they could stand up to multiple full power strikes to vital areas. In this situation the person demoing 'control' was a student of Ryuku Kempo and an early participant in a UFC. As I recall he tapped due to an arm bar. Hello, If an instructor wants you to put $200 (or more) up front..... Plus sign up for 1 year.... Should the red flags go up?? The guy is the ONLY dojang in the area that teaches TKD + Hapkido... He's pleasant on the phone... But every time I bring up the cost, he says I must come in & try it out....he also wants $20 for the 1st lesson... (He says the $20 is because I may never return & he doesn't want to waste his time...+ he talks about his "overhead" expenses...) Is this the dreaded McDojo?? A little help? Thanks! ------------------------------ From: HwarangTSD@aol.com Date: Tue, 27 Jun 2000 20:49:00 EDT Subject: the_dojang: re: Me Thank you for your support. Martial Arts" Date: Tue, 27 Jun 2000 21:04:38 PDT Subject: the_dojang: low blood sugar I was at a tournament this weekend and while I was doing my form right near the end the whole room dis-appeared and a few moments later I realised that there were 5 judges staring at me and I was shaking very badly, then I remembered that I was competing and bowed out. I suffered a very low blood sugar episode. I should of known better, but they did not allow any food or drink besides water into the gym and I was so wrapped up in competing to take time "out" to eat so I was doing my form at 5pm without any food all day. It was all a bit scary. Anything ever happen like this to anyone before?
