They are coming easier but I still have a problem doing them on my own count. My master calls it the 'someone counting for you security blanket'. I didn't get that site to work, BTW. > The inches are coming off, pounds are hanging on. I've dropped two inches off my waist and see the difference in the mirror but the weight has stayed the same. The ATA is a US based organization and the ITF is based in where? Canada? Both of these countries allow for free trade. If the WTF tried absorbing these american orgs I believe we would then be looking at an anti trust suit. Further in this vein, when people think of taekwon sport, they generallt think of Kukki-TKD. This is a shame, but we must cator to the american public if we intend on teaching them. Then there is also the problem of people who have never had acess to KKW certification who now may hold 4th dan and higher. If memory serves, the KKW is shying away from "skip dans" and even when they do them, the won't do any greater than three levels, according to the USTU's dan promotions office. Although I do hold KKW certification, I'm not so sure it would be in everyone's best interests for the KKW to try and absorb any organizations. Heck, you still have orgs in korea that issue their own certification, so if any absorbtion would occur, I would have expected it to occur there. If these orgs can still issue certification, i doubt very seriously, it would work anywhere else in the world. frank ------------------------------ From: "Carl W" Date: Mon, 24 Jul 2000 10:03:59 MDT Subject: the_dojang: Re: The_Dojang-Digest V7 #493 >From: Erik Kluzek >So yes the WTF is unique in that it has very open and all encompassing >standards. This diversity may provide for legitimate and qualified Masters to leave the WTF and start their own organizations. As well, it may also be a path for those individuals wanting to establish a mcdojo to leave their instructors' club and establish a WTF affiliated, or independent, club. Nonetheless, diversity is the stuff of life. Without it we would stagnate and die. Lets hope TKD, in all its guises, continues to provide options and alternatives. Taekwon! Dear Erik, I would say forming a McDojang can be credited to #1,3, and 6 from your list (see below). The alure of money and wealth will tempt the week of heart to follow others financial success. There are a few who have succeeded in creating a real dojang inside a McDojang (which supports their family and allows them to be full time martial artists). These sabums are far and few between. They'll have 60-80% of the McDojang formula going, and an inner corps of seniors that train at a higher level :-) These psuedo McDojangs will still produce tons of 1st Dans in 2.5 to 3 years, but will have quality senior black belts...check it out for yourself... Forming a new federation/organization that lasts a number of decades is usually based on #2 or #5, none of the other reasons will allow for continued growth. IMVHO 1.) Prestige. 2.) Disagreement on direction/focus/methodology. 3.) Money. 4.) Power. 5.) Death of an originating charasmatic leader 6.) Lack of self-determination.
