Hi everybody, I just got back from our summer training camp. There was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun, with 86 participants from Poland and Germany and some others visiting us for seminars. As usual, we were especially impressed with our TKD master Pyo Rak Sun who came from Berlin to teach us for two days. I was his "target" while he was doing the kicks and I can honestly assure that he is working hard for his 7th Dan (testing due this year). Was like a tornado coming towards my face ;) and perfectly controlled as well. Soon I will publish a report with some photos on our webpage. Glad to see so many interesting discussions going on here... Just thought I'd mention - a friend of mine (he's a 5th gup) used a high kick a few months ago to defend himself. He was at a party and one guy kept trying to pick a fight with him. My friend ignored him but as he was leaving teh guy punched him in the face. He responded with an axe kick to the chin. Now this may have worked because they other guy was expecting him to square up for a fist fight, and wasn't actually trying to kill him. Still effective nontheless. I guess if your reactions are quick enough a multitude of techniques would work... my friend knew this guy was trying to get a fight for about two hours before that...
