Last weekend I spent time with the Mrs. and a realtor looking at a few chalet and log type cabins near the Cacapon River, Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Berkeley Springs is only one hour plus from Washington, DC and Baltimore areas. Nice little town, many artists and craftsmen/women, and historic warm spring baths. Nice to have a retreat area or weekend escape there. The Cacapon, a pristine river flowing from the Potomac river, with good canoeing, kayaking, white water rafting, and not far from ski areas (the latter sport is another passion). My instructor recently brought several of his students on a canoe trip on the Cacapon River as a weekend getaway. I thought that was a good idea. Questions: Do any instructors here use similar weekend getaways for their younger students ? Do any instructors here offer seminars or workshops in similar settings ? Any readers here familiar with Berkeley Springs or West Virginia Dojangs/Dojos ? What an idea for a training facility/retreat in the West Virginia Mountains and River country ? Have a pleasant weekend. Peace, McD... P.S. Those 6 am workouts are starting to help me look like the fine young man I used to look like. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! The Yellow Pages is a list of schools made up from the people on various martial arts related lists. The idea of the list is to inform people where they might find a school that they can train at while visiting or moving into a new area. This covers all styles of martial arts. This is an international listing. You can view the Yellow Pages is via the web site: www.k2nesoft.com/~apreston/Yellow.Pages.html If you have sent me mail with your information and you do not see it on the list, please re-send it since I may have lost it...:) I would suggest that everyone look up their listing information and make sure it is current and correct correct. If your school is not there, fill out the form in the page and it will be added. The list is international and covers all sorts of arts. If you send me a form, it will be added to the list in a day or two. If you do not see it, then resend it after a couple of days. Please use the form on the web page since I have the updates semi-automated with the form. If you do not send your information with the form, I must do the work by hand and it will take longer for your listing to appear. One additional note, if you have your own web page for your school, you can added an html link to it in the additional information and it will allow people to automatically see a link to your site. - -- - -- Tony Preston *Team Amiga* Linux Developer since 1993 - -- SR Principal Engineer/Scientist - -- Atlantic Science & Technology Inc. - -- The Amiga Zone BBS 609-654-7659, Citadel 68K ------------------------------ From: Piotr Bernat Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 21:11:31 +0200 Subject: the_dojang: Contact wanted Hello, my friend just asked me for help in a following matter: He is a physical culture teacher and Taekwondo (WTF) 2nd Dan instructor in Warsaw. In the elementary school he works in, he created a very powerful Taekwondo program for kids, and the team he teaches, Taebaek Warsaw, is in my opinion the best kids` TKD team in Poland. Coincidentally, the same kids who have a special Taekwondo-oriented sports program also have a special English language program. My friend is looking for contacts with Taekwondo (WTF) school in Great Britain to start an exchange program with groups from both countries visiting each other, training and learning together. He intends to visit U.K. later this year with a group of his students. If there is any instructor or school interested in this type of co-operation, please contact taebaek@wa.home.pl or myself. You can see more of the Warsaw`s team on their webpage (sadly in Polish only, but there are some nice pictures as well): http://taebaek.prv.pl/ Your help would be greatly appreciated. Reminds me of my brunch with Van Damme on the set of Cyborg. We were sharing a bit of cognac and cheese dip. I was looking at his boots and asked how he did that blade coming out of the boot bit. He grinned, and with that Belgium accent said, "Ken, I learned that from the movie where Dorothy clicks her heels...actually there is a spring device in the heel of the boot...let me show you...he pulled off the boot, hit the heel in the proper location and then used the toe dagger to pick up a piece of cheese from the tray, handing it to me...I was flabbergasted !"
