I'd love to know what each movements means, my favourite tae-geok in Taek Wan Do is the 7th and I want to know more about each of the paterns I perform whenever I perform Tae-Geok 7. I agree that the first amendment is vital to the very foundation of America. And I certainly don't want to restrict the sale of good quality MA videos. (My own collect is not yet complete). What I have a problem with is that people hide behind "Their Rights" to commit stupid and immoral acts against others. I don't have to be responseable I know a legal loophole, I can do what I want. The fact is that Paladin didn't have a valid reason to print the book. If everyone agrees that the book was crap, why did they print it? Paladin should have taken the stand of this is a stupid idea and no good can come from publishing this. Instead they took the stand of there are enough sick people out there that I think we can make a few bucks off this, Lets do it. That is different from someone that is writing a book or doing a video to pass on valid and useful information. (Your hoshinsul video for example.) The fact is Palidin did a stupid thing to try and make a buck. If they won't take personal responsability for their actions then someone else must make them. If everyone was responsable and honest then there would be no wars, crime, or violence. there would be no need for selfdefense. But that isn't the fact. When people don't take responseability for themselves someone has to make sure that their acts don't harm others. That is why we have laws and why we train in selfdefense. putting my soap box away for now. However, I have to say, you need to believe in what you teach. If you're going to be thinking, "This is wrong", while you're teaching TKD-only, then I believe both you & the class are going to suffer. As you said, it's really a personal decision, but that's my 2 cents. ~Daniel >By no means is this to affend anyone Im just in a "what should I do" bind. >Should I do it for the benifit of helping a good man in need? or feed my >selfish desires to teach out of love of the Martial arts? > >thanks >Cory ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ From: "Karel van der Walt" Date: Wed, 16 Aug 2000 08:07:22 +0200 Subject: the_dojang: Re: Cory's Dilemma You made the right choice. You have to decide what you're more comfortable with, what your goals are, & then do what works for you. Also, all martial arts styles start you off at the beginning. The VAJ is probably more immediately practical, but an internal style like Bagua offers more long-term benefit. ~Daniel >------------------------------ >From: HardCoresixpax@aol.com >Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2000 00:36:32 EDT >Subject: the_dojang: vaj or pa-kua > >i went to a trial class today at the vee arnis jitsu place in brooklyn, i >loved the style and the way the class is conducted, but more over i met an >instructer who teaches pa- kua, he was aiding the sensai in the vee jitsu >class, and i ended up talking to him after class so now i am kinda caught >between the two styles not knowing which path to follow, and being that i >dont have the time to cross train, i have a bit of a problem.... >so id like some feed back about style prefrences and reasoning, besides try >and remember i am still kinda new at the whole martial arts bit.... what do >you think is better for a beginer and why? > >later, >gary ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Wed, 16 Aug 2000 7:25:29 PDT Subject: the_dojang: . ------------------------------ End of The_Dojang-Digest V7 #549 ******************************** It's a great day for Taekwondo!
