Ray - ------------------------------------------------------- From: Leslie Powers, Administrative Director Date: 12/15/00 Re: USTU Office Move and Temporary Office Closure Please note that on December 20-21, 2000, the USTU office will be moving from the 4th to the 1st floor of our current building on the Olympic Complex. Consequently, we will not have phone service on December 20 & 21. As our staff is working to facilitate this move, our service time will be slowed down the week prior to and the week of the move (December 15-22). Staff will be busy packing, unpacking, and reorganizing their files and office space during this time. Our goal is to keep programs running with as little service interruption as possible. Thank you for your patience during this time. Just as a reminder, the USTU will also be closed on December 25 & 26 for the Christmas holiday. Our phone and fax numbers will stay the same and our address remains the same except for the suite number: US Taekwondo Union One Olympic Plaza, Suite 104C Colorado Springs, CO 80909 PH (719) 578-4632 FAX (719) 578-4642 Ustutkd1@aol.com ------------------------------ From: "Craig Stovall" Date: Fri, 15 Dec 2000 19:10:29 -0600 Subject: the_dojang: Multiple attacker thoughts. Patrick wrote: "Thanx for the heads up. As an aside on the issue of multiple attackers, the choice is simple, but rarely identified. If forced, you face the situation trained ... or untrained - choose." No doubt about that. Unfortunately, much of what is passed off as specific "training" (in regards to multiple attackers) is founded not in reality, but rather in the chop-socky fantasy world of someone who has never faced those circumstances. There ARE tactics and techniques that can get you out of a pinch, but I still stand by my earlier assertion...run like a scalded ape if the opportunity is there. If running's not an option (trapped in a room, cornered in an alley, etc.), then you're in for a long night...start hitting hard, fast, and often and don't get taken to the ground...if that happens, it's all over but the crying. I'm sure there are plenty of Billy Jack karate killers out there who can take on three guys at once, but I sure ain't one of 'em. All those fancy double wrist locks seem to go out the window when your melon is getting pounded from three different sides. On a general note, I'd be interested to hear people's views on that particular article that I had mentioned if a few of you get the opportunity to check it out. I'll reserve my thoughts on the tactics presented until a few others chime in. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Fri, 15 Dec 2000 19:12:23 PST Subject: the_dojang: AOL 6.0 ?? FWIW... It seems that AOL 6.0 might have a problem where it cannot send email in the standard "Plain Text" format. It seems that it can only send out email in HTML format, which is fairly unreadable in forums such as this one. In many cases I have been going in and editting out the HTML formatting for some of you in hopes that AOL would correct this bug. But I cannot continue doing that as it takes too much time. If I properly understand this situation, those using AOL 6.0 will need to report this as a bug, which it clearly is. Else, as AOL has told some folks, get yourself a hotmail or someother type of free email account so that you can participate from there. (or switch back to the older version of AOL) I have submitted a problem report to AOL, but have not heard back from them yet. Sorry...
