Also, even if you "know how to fall," in TKD it's possible to be knocked out; so how do you fall properly if you're not conscious? They seam to work just fine, they stand up to the abuse, are portable, and clean up with a quick vacumm and a damp mop ever once end again. You could also check out the Swain matt site they do have some nice financing terms. John Murphy A-3-756 ITF/USTF TKD >> we carry two kinds of mats. the first kind i dont recommend: too expensive, low quality, not a great deal of versatility to them. the others are only $1.89-$1.99/square foot and are much better. theyre what i'm using right now on our floor. every now and then, you might catch an edge, though. theyre great to be able to pick up, throw outside, hose 'em down and put 'em back. i havent had to do that yet, but i've heard some of my customers say it's pretty easy. the manufacturer can even waterjet cut your logo into them, but quite honestly, that can be pricey. however, the mats will last and if youre doing a big school...go for it. otherwise, i'd stay away from any logo work. melinda Chajonshim Martial Arts Supply http://www.chajonshim.com Proud Sponsor of the 10th Annual 2001 US Open Taekwondo Championships ------------------------------ From: ChunjiDo@aol.com Date: Fri, 5 Jan 2001 22:01:44 EST Subject: the_dojang: Re: tkd books In a message dated 1/4/2001 12:51:57 PM Pacific Standard Time, the_dojang-owner@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com writes: << Modern Taekwondo: The Official Training Manual ; Soon Man Lee Tae Kwon Do :The State of the art ; Whang The Official Kukkiwon Taekwondo Textbook ; Uhm Woon-Kyu >> i've got these three and theyre all great. but if youre doing wtf tkd... the official kukkiwon tkd text is your bible....get it :) melinda Chajonshim Martial Arts Supply http://www.chajonshim.com Proud Sponsor of the 10th Annual 2001 US Open Taekwondo Championships ------------------------------ From: Bernard G Redfield Date: Fri, 05 Jan 2001 22:58:14 -0500 Subject: the_dojang: the Late GM Shim Sang Kyu Hello List, I am trying to find out when GM Shim Sang Kyu made the transition from Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan to ITF Tae Kwon Do? I realize this will be made more difficult as this master is now deceased. As far as Hwarang Do being Hapkido... Hwa Rang Do is not Hapkido, but it does bear a strong resemblance from the techniques I have seen. As my knowledge of Kuk Sool Won leaves a little something to be desired, I have no opinion there.
