I like to have some insurance and am trying to keep overhead low [:-)] However, we have had only one AAU-TKD tourney a year here in Georgia." This is not true. The AAU TKD program in Georgia sponsors a minimum of 4 TKD events in Georgia each year. That's part of what attracted us to the program (our school does USTU events, also). In November, an event was held in Lawrenceville (west of Atlanta). February 10th, the AAU has sanctioned an event in Alpharetta that is forms, black belt team forms, and Olympic style sparring. In the Spring (TBD), the AAU is sponsoring a double elimination Spar Wars for point sparring, and the AAU State Qualifier will be in Marietta (also TBD). Check the tournament page at www.eastcoasttkd.com for updates as dates become available. If anyone would like a tournament package for any of these events, please select "Contact Us" and leave an email message on the East Coast Web Site. We will send you a package or forward your request to the host school for the event that interests you. Hope this helps! This 3 day event which is only $65 if one is pre-registered by 2/14/01 will start at 6 p.m. on Friday February 23rd and is scheduled to end on Sunday 2/25/00 at 2:15 p.m. Martial artists of all styles and ranks are welcome. During the course of the clinic, each one-hour session consists of 3 different classes from which to choose. Attend only the classes that interest you. Most classes are repeated at two different times so that you don't have to miss anything. Attend all or part of the 3-day workshop. 16 instructors are scheduled to teach, although the list may change due to last minute conflicts. Some of the 5th - 8th dan teaching are Masters; J. R. West, Rich Hodder, Geoff Booth, Hal Whalen, Renee West, James Allison, Jere Hilland, and Perry Lyons. Hapkidoin from around the globe will be attending. Last year we almost had 300 hapkidoin in attendance. I have been informed that many of you on this list will be attending and I look forward to meeting many of you for the first time and seeing old friends. Our goal is simply to practice hapkido. We only expect one thing from you - and that is that you have a good time. For more information please send me an email or contact my teacher, Master J. R. West at www.hapkido.com. Jere R. I have trained with a couple of different Korean Hapkido Masters and one school wore the white judo type gi's and the other wore black. I travel in my work and when Im in other cities I visit Hapkido schools across the country and I have noticed the same thing. Is there any signifigance to this?..Are there branches of Hapkido that distinguish themselves by the color of the uniform?..or is it just personal taste of the instructor? Just wondering... thanks Mark Daley Hapkido/Gracie JJ ------------------------------ From: CKCtaekwon@cs.com Date: Sat, 6 Jan 2001 23:03:59 EST Subject: the_dojang: Re: The_Dojang-Digest V8 #11 In a message dated 1/6/01 2:13:21 PM Central Standard Time, the_dojang-owner@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com writes: << Christopher Spiller asks: I was wondering if someone can enlighten me as to why so many Taekwon-Do dojangs have mats.
