I can't say I like the v-neck tops either.  The open stretch is particularly
well suited to displaying my shocking-pale love handles, along with a nice
patch of road-rash on the left one.  I think the traditional tops look
neater..as in..tidier.  Cooler too, from an aesthetic point of view, IMO.
I'm sorry if this is something you've covered, Ms Illona, but what style is
it that you practice? (Your note implies that its not TKD)

Good question Ray, but the answer depends on what kind of non-profit you
are. Look at the United Way, the Boy Scouts, the Red Cross, etc. It depends
if you are a charity, a 501C, etc. Although in our Houston Dojang we
complete the budget for the next year, add on 10% for unexpected costs, and

Illona: Only in recent history, and only WTF practitioners. For example, ITF
folks do not. But I still see WTF taekwondo dojang that do not emphasize
competition who do not wear them except for competition. I can't explain
why. However, when I started out in taekwondo it did not exist yet. But they
all change. I changed from ITF to WTF in 79, the ITF dobok then is different

My wife is "co-founder" of Moja Kwan.  It is a family business.  She is also
my senior student at 9th Gup.  She is probably the lowest ranking Do Ju in
the world <g>.  Her philosophy and wisdom are always welcome as we spend

our dojang as a business.  She has never taken any martial art before, and
her insights and responses to classes have improved my teaching skills by
leaps and bounds!

I train my daughter. She is now 11 1/2 and I have trained her from the age of 
three. She trained over 6 years before I promoted her to junior black belt.  
I did not even bring in another instructor. No need to. Have always been very 
conscious about making sure no one thought there was nepotism in any amount. 
Since day one, she has held her own in class and every tournament she has 
ever competed in and continues to do so as a black belt. 

It's my opinion that I am the best person to teach her. I do realize that 
this doesn't work for many. It does however work for us.  The only problem 
I've had is that my other black belts get tired of losing to the instructor's 
kid in competition.

to improve a figment of a dream. I like Ray Terry's approach, the chromosomal 
make-up dictates who we are and where we stand. For those that want to argue 
hormonal treatment makes a difference. No, you just end up with a man with 
breasts and slightly less musculature than XY chromosomal make-up normally 
lends itself to. XX is female and XY is male regardless to psychological 
circumstance and presence of proper genitalia. I wish the guy luck and hopes 
that he finds himself or herself.
