It has been a year and they are still with us. But they too were lacking in alot of basic kicks and how to do them. Ever since our family started weightlifting a couple years ago, they've wanted to see one of those competitions in person. Beats me why. All the video ones look the same. :) >>> Just thought I'd ask...might be interesting to meet some people on the list down there. <<< Oh well. All nine of us kids will still be at home, bein' good. :) - - -Sarah Pride- Wow..Nine kids..I have 4...I'll only be bringing the oldest two with me (7 and 3). This will be my third tournament, but the first one of this size. Hello Udell: I will be attending the event, and I'm always happy to meet new friends. Sincerely, Rudy Rudy- I'm always interested in meeting new friends as well. I have been studying tkd for one year now. I am a 7th gup, soon to be 6th gup. I train in North Olmstead, OH. This will be my third tournament experience. Are you competing, or just attending? I have not yet seen the book for myself except in passing. I have heard some feedback but will withold reporting that until I have a chance to look at the material for myself. I understand that the $70 tome is being issued as a $16US paperback in April or May so I may wait just a bit before actually picking up on a copy for myself. Availability has not been all it could be for a book which Weatherhil characterized as a "definitive" work. If you are honestly interested in my view of the material perhaps you could give me a jog during May. I am terminally ill with CRS and routinely must refer to my instruction manual just to change my mind. Apparently compliance or abandonment are the only options followers get in your position. Lastly it seems that accountability is not a word that figures into your idea of leadership, history very much indicating to the contrary. I think I am pretty much on the money, so far, given your comment about how ˇ°dictatorial, competent leadership has never been the problem...ˇ± I am left to conclude that either a.) your understanding of the nature of leadership is sorely impoverished, or b.) that you perhaps have a particularly simplistic or naive view of the role of leaders and their place in the world, or c.) perhaps you are privy to the existence of some system in the world which successfully operates under the limits you have set. Is there some experience you have had in your military training or in college, or in your career that suggests that such a system as you define is viable? Would you be willing to identify a few successful systems that operate according to your specs? I would like to close by advising you that you may be doing more good than you know by your contributions. I have, for sometime wondered deeply how it is that the MA in general, and Hapkido in particular have come to the condition in which they find themselves. Assuming for a moment that there are more individuals such as yourself that operate under such a value system as you reveal I have no problem understanding how individuals in positions of authority can commit the various travesties that they do with impunity. She says she was diagnosed with "condomylatia". Her description is from damage to her knees from jogging and doing Aerobics on hard concrete. She's also talked about how her patella doesn't track correctly on her knee. She said the condition is permenent. I've been taking her what I consider extremly slow and careful. But, she still confesses to me that her knee's hurt after practice. The first day we did some work with forward stance, but because she's new and not quite doing the motion correctly -- it put a lot of stress on her knees. So the next day she had knee supports and I had her do everything in walking stance. Her knee's weren't hurting after class, but they were by the time she got home. Does anyone have any advice for me regarding this? Is she going to able to do martial arts? What can I do to strenthen her thighs so that she won't be in such pain? Does anyone know where I can get information on this? I did a internet search and couldn't find anything (although she may have misspelled it for me).
