Ray --------------------------------------------------------------------- Maestro Sonny Umpad of Corto Cadena Visayan Escrima will having a seminar on the basics of the system. For those unfamiliar with Corto Cadena it has very sophisticated basics especially in the realms of structural alignment (for grounding, speed, and power), spatial relationships (e.g. "Arg! How did he hit me again"), footwork (e.g. "Oh, that's how he hit me"), fulcrums, and blade application. Umpad has a book at Paladin Press on the balisong and is well known for his seminars in Europe and the Pacific Northwest. Date: February 24, 2001 Time: 1:00 to 6:00 PM Cost: $80 Location: In Motion Center for Healing, Movement, and Martial Arts 813 San Pablo Avenue Albany, CA 94706 For More Info call: Bernard Langan at (510) 527-7760 ------------------------------ From: JSaportajr@aol.com Date: Sat, 17 Feb 2001 09:36:37 EST Subject: the_dojang: Re: Seminar in Massachusetts I have been asked to announce a great seminar in Tewksbury, MA, which is about a half hour northwest of Boston. The seminar will feature Grandmaster Young Ahn Kwon and Bill "Superfoot" Wallace. The seminar will be March 23, 2001, from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM, at Kwon's Taekwondo Academy. Bill Wallace is a legend and needs no introduction. Grandmaster Young A Kwon is an 8th Dan in Taekwondo, a certified Master instructor by the World Hapkido Federation, and a former professional TaeKickboxing champion - lightweight Asian Kickboxing Champion for 3 years. He is Master instructor certified by the Sport Kumdo Federation. He is founder of the Ho Kwon Do system. Superfoot Bill Wallace has been clocked kicking with his left leg in excess of 60 mph. Grandmaster Kwon has been clocked at 200 clean kicks in one minute. This should be a great seminar. I can tell you personally that Master Kwon is a friendly and caring person and an excellent teacher and has a great group of people involved with his dojang. If you would like to attend the seminar, or you would like more information, please email me privately. Thanks, Jose' ------------------------------ From: JSaportajr@aol.com Date: Sat, 17 Feb 2001 09:42:14 EST Subject: the_dojang: Re: correction re. seminar in MA So sorry but I made an error on my announcement of the seminar in Tewksbury, MA. The date of the seminar is March 31, 2001, and not March 23 as I posted. Email me privately if you are interested in the seminar on March 31. I am curious on whether individuals are interested in this opportunity. If so email me privately. Substantial discounts versus what you would pay in the U.S. Artist(s) is the number one charcoal practitioner in Cebu. Quality unsurpassed. Thanks again. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Mr. Monjar commented, in part: Response: Well stated. That is another point I was attempting to make prior to the responses on payment issues. We often get caught up in our own daily lives and forget the little things. Things like having a toilet versus living in a bamboo hut with two rooms. When you see impoverished squatters and their children (with no clothes) running around in a major urban area, then you place certain issues in proper perspective.
