Not part of the SK government as I understand it, but it/they are under the control (to some degree) of the SK government and the IOC. I have met him and trained with him. Wow...what a rush...unquestionable speed...unmatchable skill ...non-stop adrenaline. At 50?...he has better endurance, balance, and is ten times faster than black belts half his age. Yes, I have. How come he moved to New Mexico? Anyone know? > At 50? I think he is older than that. More like 60 or so??? One of my most loved items in my gearbag is my white belt. After 50 years of practice, I carry it with me wherever I go. First and foremost, I am a student, and I love to learn. However, I'm with you on recognizing former rank received. Even though apples and oranges are different, we can appreciate both as good fruit. I also encourage visitors (or new members with past experience) to wear the belt they earned. I do this out of respect for the Master who awarded the belt as well as to show appreciation for the dedication of the student. This is especially important to kids. However, all new students start at the beginning of our curriculum, regardless of the color of their belt. Asking new (experienced) students to wear the highest belt they have earned prevents true newbies from feeling totally awkward trying to learn something that the experienced white belt standing next to them has done for years. Hopefully there IS a visible difference between the two; if not, I strongly suggest free private lessons to help the experienced white belt keep confidence. My last reason for recognizing rank is competition. I will not have a student (with more experience) in the white belt division while wearing my patch. If the expereinced newbie does not agree with that, he can train elsewhere. Just my few pennies on this subject. I recall this one little restaurant right off of an alley in Itawon. But, many like that. If the fried stuff kicks in and in Seoul, right across from Hamilton Hotel or nearby there is a McDonalds. Beer= all over the place. McD... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo!
