He is a very good martial artist and a nice person. Master Choi is an ITF 8th Dan and is Secretary General of the ITF. He is only in his middle/late 40's so has great support among the "young men". Don't know how future leadership will shake out as there are several others that are senior in rank. Gen. Choi has mentioned Master Choi as his desired successor many times but much rest with the ITF board and the other seniors. Contrary to what many people believe, the next leader of the ITF will have to be approved/elected by the board. Time will tell. Robert Martin A-4-336 "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." I have read that this state can be reached in many ways, and from many directions. Martial Artists have no more (or less) claim to "The Way" than flower arrangers. The reason you cannot keep your eye on the path and achieve the goal is because focus requires effort, and achievement denies harmony. You guys are probably right. Mr. Cho is probably older than 50...but I never asked him his age...didn't care...that wasn't why I was there. Besides...if he is 60... that doesn't change the comparison him and a younger black belt. I trained there a week and during the work-outs...students were dropping like flies...but not Hee Il Cho ...he never broke a sweat. Answer to why he moved to New Mexico...not sure! I beleive his son runs the school in L.A. though. Food for thought though...what he has to offer is way to priceless to be stained by issues like this. Take Care! I've enjoyed the threads on knives and am looking at retiring my Bali-song for a Timberline VDL, Kershaw KO Blackout, Kasper Folder or of course the Bram Frank Gunting. Since a lot of time has been spent on this thread I'd appreciate comments off-list about preferences and reasons along with reviews of Hock's and Frank's Videos, Books, etc. Any opinions about partial serrations? Finally, I've enjoyed Markland (padded training weapons)knife and sword fighting in the Washington, DC area, and was pleased to see others doing sparring with trainers (weapons). I have my own views, but would like to survey when others on the list introduce knife concepts, disarms, live sparring, etc., and what ages they open this up to, along with what combinations of gear and type of trainers (wood, rubber, alum., etc.), rules, and whatever are used. Comments welcome on or off list. Yours in Jung Do, Charles E. Richards Moja Kwan TSD __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
