I assume that the definition of harmony you are referring to is (from Webster's) "internal calm." Such an attitude of the inner self does not come without effort to release those things which would hinder its achievement and maintenance. Both yin and yang play a role in harmony. Be careful lest your mind/no mind becomes only no mind. ;-) DS ------------------------------ From: "Rudy Timmerman" Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 02:45:07 -0500 Subject: the_dojang: Gov't Bruce writes: > Is there, or is there not an offical relationship between the government of > South Korea and one or more Marital art organizations or not? Hey Bruce. I just do some simple cyfering to come up with THAT answer. How many TKD practitioners send in their testing fees etc. in US dollars each year, and then I look at the normal action of ANY Gov't. I have yet to find a Gov't that could keep their hands out of such lucrative cookie jar. NCHVAMC" Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 08:30:34 -0600 Subject: the_dojang: RE:Kidohae-- website and beyond Dear Seo Songsaengnim: I had occasion to visit the new website and was very please to see the new format. It seems to be very welcoming and user friendly. I was hoping you might find time to address some questions I have regarding the Kidohaes' use of the Internet. 1.) Will the new website be able to identify membership in the Kidohae for at least higher ranks here in the US. It would, I think help to have a resource by which people could verify the rank and status of individuals who invoke membership and rank in the Kidohae. 2.) Will the Kidohae be doing anything more to tighten its certification protocols so as to make it less likely that the organization will inadvertantly provide certification to people who are not properly credentialed? 3.) Will the Kidohae provide any additional clarification regarding its relationship with the government of South Korea. I continue to have individuals present themselves to me stating that their rank is somehow authenticated by the Korean government as their report being members of the Kidohae. 4.) Will the Kidohae authority be taking any new actions in the future to reduce any disproportionate influence by the Kuk Sool Won members of the organization in formulating procedures, policies and protocols? Despite that mention of some 31 various arts on the website, there is rarely any mention of policy being set by individuals other than those with Kuk Sool Won affiliation. My personal belief is that this only serves to reinforce the false belief that the Kidohae is a reflection of "Chinese Martial Arts". 5.) Will the Kidohae authority be taking any new actions to be more inclusive of other organizations such as the Korean Hapkido Assn or at least to address issues among various organizations? I am sure that the Kidohae would welcome any new members. However, I am interested to know in what ways the Kidohae is willing to work constructively and respectfully with other Hapkido organizations for the good of the art. As the single largest organization of its type, I would guess that it is incumbant on the Kidohae to be magnanimous and reach out to fellow organizations, neh? 6.) Has a time yet been determined when the leadership of the Kidohae will be rotated (either through succession or election) to the next authority? 7.) Has further consideration been given to incorporating a board or other more public venue into the administration of the organization? I will ask your indulgence if my questions appear somewhat affrontive within the normal context of the martial art world. My intention is not to put you "on the spot", but rather to give voice to questions that I have considered for myself or which others have voiced but may be retiscent to express to you. There are many others I have left unexpressed, but perhaps the ones I have presented here will be a good start. It has been my experience that most MA organizations are especially secretive and monolithic in their workings. It is commendable that the Kidohae has extended itself to become so public and I would like to do what can be done from my position as a member to encourage these efforts for the good of the arts. A thought. - - This talk about the Century Training Bags with force meters got me to thinkin', whatta bout a Training Bag, in a human shape that has a voice attachment that talks to ya while training. You know, gets ya riled up, for example: a. "Hey, teach...can you give me a credit for the month ?" b. "Yo, you wanna buy a rolex watch ?" c. "Hi, I work for the sisters of ____charity...can you give some money today ?" d. "Hi honey, you wanna date ?" e. "Hey buddy, where did you learn to drive...you get your license from a cracker-jacks box ?" And so forth. The more expressions get you more mad. Then you throw in a force field measuring device to see how angry you get ? Also, you can have a device that measures your blood pressure and heart rate. This way, you have one machine that helps you reach a healthy max. Another attachment can also be a device that u unhook from the training dummy and then roll it on the floor, like one of those ab devices on TV. You can call it the Body by Jake Training Dummy ?
