Anyone with AAU insurance experience? > I have used the aau insurance. its reasonable priced. simple. no student mimimum. i think it was 35 school fee per year. and 15 per child and 25 per adult per year. basicly all students and instructors have to be aau members.. and u got the coverage. i would recomend it. prices were from memory.. couple years ago.. might have went up.. not sure. good luck Bill Evans _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ From: "J. Canes It is fairly true that a light duty cane may let you down in a situation, but a well - chosen, plain, hickory cane can be found that will fit the bill and not look like a weapon, and on the two occasions that the cane has been called on to protect me or someone else, it has had a VERY positive effect on the situation. I too have an aluminum cane in my collection, but it is of one-piece construction. I find this cane to be too lite for most work, so I added a little weight to both ends to compensate, but I still would not want to use it. The all-time favorite is a hickory cane with a wide crook that I ran across in a flea market in Jackson many years ago, and purchased for $10. I caused a few odd stares when I walked through a hundred odd canes to see which had crooks that would easily wrap around my neck. ...On another note, what if you defend yourself against an unarmed attacker with your Canemasters cane and the investigating officer notices your "weapon" and, because of the odd shape and cut of this cane, decides that you have, in fact, assaulted your unarmed attacker, much as you would if you pulled out a knife or gun. I have run this by several attorneys here and most agree that anything that YOU purchase, or is sold with the idea of serving as a weapon, can be considered as a weapon in a court of law.....OOOPS. Just something else to think about.....J. R. I was surprised to hear that it's a dan bong with a cord attached - I've never seen this (I'm far from an expert in dan bongs, of course). All the ones that I've seen used are without cords. All of my experience w/ dan bong comes from Kuk Sool Won, though - are there multiple types, or is this kind of a hybrid or non-traditional weapon? >> A very versatile weapon. >> ... I can believe that the cord changes it and may make it more versatile. Seems like you could do some things with it like you'd do with either nunchuks (sp?) or 'bhat' (again, sp?). I think 'bhat' is the right word - I basically mean the little axes that are held one-per-hand, and can be attached to your wrist w/ leather straps so they're free to rotate around your wrist if you release your grip. (They always make me think of that old movie Gymkata.) - -Thayne ------------------------------ From: "J. R. Actually, we had KHF masters, DaeHan KiDoHwe masters, a WKF master, a master from GM Ji's organization, the president of the World HanMuDo Assn. (also a KiDoHwe master) and several other HapKiDo and related organizations represented in Jackson, MS a couple of weeks ago, and we all worked incredibly well together because the organizations of the different instructors was not a factor. This is a private trip he is taking and while I have no problem with that understand that he is not representing the Kidohae in a official capacity. The Kidohae office in Seoul has contacted Master Lee and he has agreed to this and understands that he is conducting this seminar on his own and not under the auspices of the Kidohae. Please cease publicizing this event as a Kido sponsered event. I welcome anyones efforts in promoting martial arts but please respect the Kidohae's authority in sanctioned its own seminars and approval of official trips versus private ones.
