The plan is to eliminate this last requirement for kkw next year. U do need to provide a proof of rank to gain referee certification - a school cert or qa kkw will do. But the kkw is not a requirement Ronda J. Sweet USTU Publication Chair OK State President I am not the official spokesperson for the USTU and make no claims to be - however, as publication chair and webmaster - I have all the documentation. Instead of recognizing a variation of stepping or of body movement different from are own is just that , It seems alot of hapkidion have to disapprove or make veiled shots on here. I feel alo of it is ego , wanting to be the big fish... West goes along way in promoting fellowship among hapkido practioners. I think Several of the various Hapkido Master from around the country and different locations hosting seminars would help the sharing of knowledge among our family. Or having a big Seminar every year hosted in different locations . I got a lot out of attending the Seminar in Mississippi and hearing the vaiationsa of theory and body movement among different schools. I think to grow evolve and become more proficient you must not be afraid to learn and consider other 's techniques and bodymovement. Just my .02 cents..... Agreed. Sorry, I probably misunderstood. I was thinking you meant the kkw rates were higher in the US to kick back $ to the USTU. I do not believe that happens, save what I described when you go through the USTU for your kkw certs. ??? Many (most?) masters skip the USTU and go straight to the Kukkiwon. Ray Terry raymail@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Mon, 09 Apr 2001 22:36:35 PDT Subject: the_dojang: gunting demo Master Rowe will get a kick out of this... I was showing a friend how to use the Gunting knife that Master Rowe likes so much. There are various ways to open it, so I demoed one of them on myself, on my chest. Cut myself big time and bled like a stuck pig. The whole time I was thinking of what a kick Master Rowe would get out of that little event, as I bled all over myself, my clothes, and my friend's house. :) Lesson learned... more time needed with the trainer (dull) model of the Gunting before I go showing off again...
