Actually, some of that writing is pure fiction as I recall what I used to eat. Right now I am on Baycol and my cholosterol (sic) level is down to 110. Best in years. Today I had this for lunch: - - Bowl of lentil soup - - Salad But, I yearn for the days of burgers, fries, burritos, and other fatty stuff, re: Calzone, sausage, pizza, lasagna, gyros, tacos, and so forth. This stuff does cause gas. Hence the subject title of Fatty Foods and Martial (F) Arts. Swam 26 laps today with 1.5 miles on the treadmill. Need to ramp up more. On a martial arts note, check out my main man Tony at tonyc@titleboxing.com I just purchased some weight training books at half price. I am gonna pump you up man ! McD... P.S. I love everyone's advice, ect. so far (eventhough it wasn't directed at me). You've been really helpful so far. I do have a question though. I'm in NJ right now, and I study Tang Soo Do. But I'll be moving to NY in a couple of weeks, and I would like to know if anyone could suggest a good korean MA school in the Rochester area of NY. Hopefully another Tang Soo Do school, only because I basically just started (I'm only a 6th gup), and I'd like to continue with TSD and reach, at least, blackbelt before moving on to a new art. But if that isn't possible, can someone suggest a dojang or two that teaches traditional style korean MA? Thanks in advance for your help. Tang Soo! The 6th session of the "textbook task force," headed by Vice Education Minister Kim Sang-kwon, will be attended by officials from the Foreign Affairs-Trade Ministry, Cheong Wa Dae, the Office for Government Policy Coordination and the Gender Equality Ministry. At present, the permanent body, aimed at preparing measures to give the international community the true picture of Korea-related history, will be established under the wing of the Prime Minister's Office or the Education Ministry, he said. The participants will also exchange views on how Foreign Affairs-Trade Minister Han Seung-soo should lead the discussions with his Japanese counterpart Makiko Tanaka when they meet late this month in Beijing on the sidelines of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) member countries. Wrapping up a month-long scrutiny into controversial Japanese history textbooks, Seoul transferred to Tokyo a file of specific proposals last week for the "correction" of 35 problematic passages justifying Japan's past misdeeds committed against Korea. At present, the Seoul government is waiting for Tokyo's reply, contemplating the actions by Japanese government leaders and media organizations. "We will have to wait for at least one month or two, as Japan also needs time to scrutinize our proposals," the official said. On April 3, the Japanese government announced that all of the eight textbooks submitted for government screening had been approved for use at Japanese junior high schools beginning in April next year, touching off criticism from Korea and China. ------------------------------ From: "Kenneth W. Legendre" Date: Tue, 15 May 2001 23:26:43 -0700 Subject: the_dojang: David vs. Goliath Hello All I guess I have a couple of comments about David vs. Goliath. 1. It reminds me of the story of the fox chasing the rabit. While the fox is running for dinner the rabbit is running for its life. This kind of makes things a little more pressing for you when you fear for you life. While I know this will not completely change a fight but I think that we have all heard about incredible feats when your life is in danger. 2. The element of suprise can sertainly change things quite a bit. Most of us on the list dont go around bragging "Im a X degree black belt in Y" (Although our friends certainly make up for our lack of efforts). When your not expecting a good swift kick to the knee it makes it even that much mor devastating. 3. The most important part of being a black belt is to not put yourself into cituations where you will need to use your martial arts training. We all know we should do this but how many of us actually do? Will you cross to the other side of the street because that side is lit by a streetlight? I guess I agree that under normal circumstances if a average black belt were attacked by an elite athlete they probably would not make it out of the fight in one piece, but in these cases the circumstances are far from normal. Im sure Im going to take lots of heat for this, but imagine how "pumped" you would be if somebody did something to your loved ones. Now dont you think you would be at least that "pumped" if they did the same to you? Just wanted to offer you all another side to look at. thanks Ken Legendre 2nd dan waiting for 3rd dan certificate. tae kwon do innae@netexpress.net ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Wed, 16 May 2001 7:39:31 PDT Subject: the_dojang: . ------------------------------ End of The_Dojang-Digest V8 #298 ******************************** It's a great day for Taekwondo!
