I wrote it 1996 and it's finally here. It's called "TaeKwonDo Sparring: For the Ring and the Street"-published by Unique Publications in California. They also publish "Inside Kung-Fu" and whole bunch of other popular Martial Arts Magazines. It's being sold in bookstores and all over the internet. Just type in "Taekwondo" at www.amazon.com internet bookstore. It's fairly big and fat and has lots of great stuff in it. Over 700 hundred pictures and "no" it's not forms and patterns or history of Korea, or Tournament rules. It's just about Advanced Sparring, Training, and Techniques/Strategies. I hope to get some feed back from some of you who pick up a copy and I hope to hear from you soon!! Some of it is puffing to go along with whatever product is being hawked on that particular day, and who is "hot". What criteria would you use to rate a martial artist? If you like, please give examples of whom you would rate and why. Although it would be easier for the group if they were well known personalities, they need not be. Thank you. A couple of my colleagues are up in Indianapolis (in Greenwood), so if you're up there you could contact them. I would also HIGHLY recommend Ms. Takami Tanner, a 5th dan in Naginata-do who lives in Batesville. She is a wonderful instructor, and Naginata-do is even harder to find than Kendo! To improve your self defense chances, as you advance in experience, sparring should reduce in rules. 2. Sparring should include contact (not necessarily knock-outs) and continuous sparring from time to time." I agree that the more time spent freesparring with contact the better. Also, using techniques that have been deemed to dangerous for tournament by most folks, but commonly used on the street, but with control is important. <<<<<<>>>>>>> I have talked with a few people who carry the experience, and every single one told me that in a situation between two people with training, the determination of will to survive at any cost makes the difference. Mike Inay (Eskrima) and JI Han-jae (Hapkido). I'm lucky in that I actually got to train with the best.
