So, given that other options existed, those couples could NOT have gravitated towards martial arts as a hobby/activity/pastime since they would have inevitably been sucked into the exciting worlds of quilting, rock climbing, pottery, and tantric sex workshops? Rather, you're 100% certain that those couples ended up in "croddy" because they were insecure? Ummmm...it's obvious to me that you've made up your mind about this insecurity thing. I really don't want to continue with this, but I just won't respect myself in the morning if I don't make one point perfectly clear. The couples in question are not "rationales", they are real living, breathing human beings that I happen to know. As such, I'm privy to their particular motivations, goals, beliefs, and priorities. I'm sorry that a SINGLE contrary example to your position kind of blows your hypothesis out of the water, but that's what happens when you paint yourself into the proverbial corner with words like 'all', 'always', and 'never'. All adults do not start martial arts training for reasons of insecurity. I'm sorry if that's contrary to the paradigm that you have chosen, but I can assure you that it's simply not true. If nothing else...we can agree to disagree. When you have all the directions down, do it on an uneven lawn for better foot to ground work. After that, do them backwards (start with your last move and work your way to the first). Lots of fun! BTW, Bruce. I have also noted I make more noise these days. It is a crowd pleaser. the apple always seems to explode as it comes off the sword. So I decided to try this one for a demo we had planned and i went out and bought some apples and went home to experiment. I took an apple outside tossed it up in the air and kicked it hard as i could with a round kick. It rolled down the driveway and across the street. Problem is it didnt "explode". In fact is was pretty much intact. So it occured to me that in order to make an apple explode folks might be altering them. I'm guessing that they are taking a razor blade and putting multiple slices in the apples. from ten feet away the cuts would be invisable. so since the experiment i have seen this demo section done a couple more times at tourneys and sure enough when u look close the "amazing exploding apple" pieces all seem to have smooth edges. My question is. is this ethical? your could say .... its only a demo and it looks great, the difficulty of the kick is impressive enough.. its no big deal to alter the apple. or you could say.its dishonest misrepresenting your kicking skills/power. whatcha think? I never met a college student who couldnt scrounge up money for beer. Make the sacrifice and support your instructor. It sounds like the training if dirt cheap to begin with. A couple bucks for the guy who is virtually donating his time and effort is very fair.
