But, my name is too long to put on my belt with someone elses!! Seriously, I use to do that practice with new dan's belts many years ago, but dropped the practice for reasons that I do not need to belabor! Our organization has very clearly defined standards of conduct. If these standards are not met, or they are blatantly violated, such as in a manner that is deemed illegal or along those lines, I have seen, and I endorse, the revocation of rank. Does this mean I'm going to walk into someone's school and take their certificate? Or take the belt that like it or not, they purchased? And purchase it they did, unless, you are able to test for free. I think that the revocation of rank must be done on occasion. Sometimes, you just get a bad apple, who was able to hide him/herself. BUT, I think this is a decision that should not be undertaken lightly. In my opinion, the reasons need to be good ones, not just cause LArry says I stink so he can't have the belt he paid for but is really mine. This ends up just being petty. I say generally, let them go. They will eventually hang themselves. ------------------------------ From: SallyBaughn@aol.com Date: Sat, 11 Aug 2001 22:32:58 EDT Subject: the_dojang: Re: The_Dojang-Digest V8 #475 In a message dated 8/11/01 1:06:14 PM Eastern Daylight Time, the_dojang-owner@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com writes: << We always assume that everyone will act responsibly and treat us with the same caring and respect that we treated them, behave in a rational manner, and be up front in their dealings with us and with others, but when you are open to the public, anything can (and will) happen, in spite of your best efforts to the contrary >> Or, as my old daddy said, "Trust everyone... but cut the cards." : ) Sally ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Sat, 11 Aug 2001 20:15:26 PDT Subject: the_dojang: . ------------------------------ End of The_Dojang-Digest V8 #476 ******************************** It's a great day for Taekwondo!
