These are usually Hardwood (oak or hickory) and have a wide crook, similar to the "Canemasters" cane (only without the point, marketing, and at a lower price). Be choosy on the finish, or strip and refinish it yourself (some are finished nice, some are not). >> A livestock crook ? Ok ... will do. Will find a feedstore around here and see if they have any and let you know what I have found out here about them. Being able to stain them and finish them like I want would be nice and a cool hobby to have. This is open to all sword practitioners, we already have 4 schools that will be joining us. Please let me know if you are interested in doing a demonstration for this event. There will be Hyung/Kata/Forms, Ja-Ri-Gi/Tamishigiri/Target test cutting, Sparring with foam swords, this is not Kumdo or Kendo. We will also be throwing a little Jungki Hapkido in there as well. I was wondering if someone was knowledgeable about acupuncture or had any other applicable knowledge, and if so, what they think of the hypothesis...." This may not be what you want to hear, however M Yang, Jwing-ming (SHAOLIN LONG FIST KUNG FU, pg 25) mentions "a great drawback" to pursuing Iron Sand Hand, a hand conditioning regime. "The martial artist who goes beyond eight to ten stages will become sterile". M Yang goes on to mention that "usually martial artists who already have children or are permanent bachelors will go beyond the eighth or tenth stage." FWIW. Is this the type of "blockage" concerned here? I would love to know of the validity of the negative effects of hand/foot conditioning because I have just recently begun to do such pounding...
