Client comes in, she wants to transfer custody of her 11 yo daughter to an out of town relative. (We will not discuss the fact that she came in to see me the day after school started and needs this donne, literally, yesterday.) The reason for the transfer is that the child gets into alot of fights and thinks a change of scenery will help. (I had my own thoughts about what would help, but kept my mouth closed.) Client admits to me that she made one mistake. She signed the kid up for karate, which she now uses in her fights. Naturally, this piqued my curiosity. I asked if she told the child's instructors. She said yes, they gave her "their little punishment" (whatever that means). As the client was leaving, she asks me some questions about an unrelated matter. It seems that her husband got into some trouble with the law, and was denied a green card. I asked the nature of the trouble. To shorten a long story, he was convicted of dealing coke 10 years ago. My first reaction was that an instructor is limited in their influence, unless the child's parents are on board. My second reaction is, just what is the responsibility of the instructor under these circumstances? Please interject any other reactions that you may have. Is this the type of "blockage" concerned here? I would love to know of the validity of the negative effects of hand/foot conditioning because I have just recently begun to do such pounding... Cheree, Given my tremendous lack of knowledge, I may mispeak. If I do, I am sorry, it is not intentional. As I understand it, an energy meridian travels down the arm and returns at the two knuckles of the fist the we repeatedly pound to condition. The callousing is what forms the block, preventing the energy from returning. The result, at least what was posited by the author of the article, was not arthritis, but lung cancer brought on by an energy imbalance in that channel. I will have to get the mag tomorrow while at lunch. I do not know if this is true, but I have stopped pounding for now. Hope this helps. Hi Illona: I have had one of the livestock canes for more than twenty-five years, and it has served me well. BTW, I received, in a roundabout way, your letter on appreciation and healthcare.
