Clubs are generally smaller than schools... such as your standard Parks and Rec Dept.program. (atleast this is what the majority of instructors say);however, this is what the dictionary says. According to Merriam-Webster <<3 a.: an association of persons for some common object usu. jointly supported and meeting periodically; also: a group identified by some common characteristic (nations in the nuclear~)>> I think we need to get away from personal bias of words as words are just that. To be insulted because a school is called a "club" is a little over the top. As one can clearly see from the above dictionary definition, any school may also be called a club. Now, can we split hairs on a slightly more important topic, please? In the martial arts I consider a club a place of study and pracice in which the location is held in someplace that is not dedicated to martial arts training. University, Churchs, YMCA, Boy Club, High Schools etc. Schools, academies, etc .. are permanent locatiions teaching martial arts. ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Sun, 02 Sep 2001 14:21:33 PDT Subject: the_dojang: Labor Day For those in the US, have a restful Labor Day.
