I was happy to read that most of you that responded that you used to tests for evaluation indicated that you reserved the authority to determin when a student was ready to test. I also caught that those who don't use tests thought that tests limited the amount of material that a student could be evaluated on. My question for everyone is, do you limit the tests to just the material (ie techniques, ho sin sool, one step or other set sparring, forms, ect) learned since the last test, or do you also test on all the other material or selected other material? And Why? I have seen schools and organizations which do it both ways. I will say that I require each testing student to do every form they have learned, as well as all set techniques such as one step sparring and ho sin sool.
