Yesterday it was hard to meet someone on the street of my town since everybody was watching the news coverage, and our TV gave special news every 15 minutes. I discussed the situation with my students and all that we can say at the moment is: here in Poland, we are all with you during this hard time. - -- Piotr Bernat dantaekwondo@lublin.home.pl http://www.taekwondo.prv.pl ------------------------------ From: Ken McDonough Date: Wed, 12 Sep 2001 06:36:14 -0700 (PDT) Subject: the_dojang: Brief Update: Pentagon 12 Sep 01. Pentagon, 0930 hours. I am limited by what I can write. Several heros emerged last night helping to put out the fires that still are ongoing on the South Wedge of the Helo- port area, Pentagon. This is the Navy side of the Pentagon.Strangers helping each other out. Several of my staff showed true courage. Numbers of deaths are rising but can't release that information. We are awaiting additional supplies from Walter Reed and others. Kudos to American Red Cross and other county support groups. Morning discussion on awareness of chemical warfare issues. We are supporting the military high ranking officials who are in the chambered conference rooms sorting out the issues. God Bless those wonderful volunteers and rescue personnel. And Why? ...snip... For the first three testings (white, orange and yellow), we require only the material for the current rank. However, the students are repeatedly told during those ranks that they are liable for all lower rank material at any time. Starting with the fourth testings, students can be, and are, called up at random to do lower rank material. The higher in rank they go, the more they do, until on their Black Belt test, they do everything from white belt up to their current rank. Increased rank carries increased responsibility. The higher ranked students serve as mentors to the lower ranks, and will help them out during our open floor workouts. They can't very well do that if they don't know the material. I feel that no one should achieve Black Belt without knowing their foundation material front, back and sideways. ------------------------------ From: "Andrew Gassiot" Date: Wed, 12 Sep 2001 08:54:15 -0500 Subject: the_dojang: Re: Three New American Hero's With all the horror's of yesterday from faceless cowards, it's time to take note of three very brave men. On the news this morning there was a report about the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. Apparently the terrorists had told everyone they should call their loved ones to say goodbye since they were all going to die. One man called his wife, told her he was about to die, explained the situation, and told her that he and two other men had decided to attempt to take back control the plane. This is thought to be the airplane that had The Whitehouse as its' target. Psalms 35:1-8 There were many acts of bravery and heroism yesterday. These three men deserve a special mention as they may have very well preserved the greatest symbol of American freedom. While my friends and family have bee accounted for, I keep hearing stories of their friends and their family member missing. Please pray for the unfound survivors, their families, the rescue workers (appx 300 lost their lives in the service of others), their families, those that lost their lives and their survivors, finally please pray for the wisdom of our leaders. Lastly, I would like to point out that the true spirit of New Yorkers was demonstrated. It was not rudeness, but caring. There was no violence or looting, but there was compassion and helping those around them. For this, I am very proud of the people of the City of New York Neal Konecky ===== “Whenever a people or an institution forgets its hard beginnings, it is beginning to decay.” Carl Sandburg __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
