Forwarded message: The e-mailing below is part of a very elaborate scam. The book "British Qualifications", available from Amazon.com, and now in its 31st Edition, lists all approved professional, technical, and academic programs in the United Kingdom that lead to a government- approved certificate or college degree. The only government-approved program in the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland) is that conducted by the College of Higher Education of Martial Arts (CHEMA). CHEMA offers programs up through the master's-level. A research Ph.D. is then offered by matriculation with a well-known university. There are no other approved programs, period, end of sentence, end of paragraph. Anyone putting money into this program is just wasting their money. Of course there is a side benefit for anyone participating in this. They will probably get to meet a real live Special Agent of the FBI. When Scotland Yard finally acts on this scam - as it inevitably will - the computer record will lead to the United States. Scotland Yard will undoubtedly share this with the FBI. _________________________________________________ From: "worldcallcentre" Date: Tue, 2 Oct 2001 10:37:46 +0100 Subject: martial art opportunity This message is from the World Martial Arts Academy to inform you of a new martial arts opportunity that is about to be launched on a global scale. Forwarded message: Just in case you may be in Washington, DC in a couple of weeks, we should like to invite you to the 8th annual Hahn Moo-Sook (HMS) Colloquium in the Korean Humanities at The George Washington University. The Cultural and Information Service of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea joins GW to co-host this year's Colloquium, which is on Korean music. World-renowned composer and performer, Byung-ki Hwang, Professor Emeritus of Ewha Womans University and Member of the Republic of Korea Academy of Arts and Letters, and eminent musicologist, Robert C. Provine of the University of Maryland, will talk about different varieties of traditional Korean music and their relationships with Chinese musical traditions. The speakers will address the wider and sensitive issue of Chinese cultural influence on Korea. Hwang will explore the functional, expressive, and technical differences between Chinese-style music and native music as both are preserved in present-day Korea. Provine will describe the remarkable story of the close relationship between music and standardized measurements in Korea and China. Three distinguished discussants, Chan E. Park of the Ohio State University, Andrew P. Killick of the Florida State University, and Elizabeth D. Tolbert of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, will present commentaries on the subject from different perspectives, which will stimulate and lead to our usual lively discussion. This year the Colloquium will be held at: The Korean Cultural Service, Embassy of the Republic of Korea, 2370 Massachusetts Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20008 [Metro: Dupont Circle--North Exit. Parking available at the Cultural Service and two neighboring Embassy buildings at 2320 and 2450 Mass Ave.] on Saturday, October 20, 2001 (9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will finish with a buffet lunch.
