Does that count? Incidentally, I was going to ask you. You mentioned that you were able to keep costs down and have a positive bank balance. I was curious as to how you intend/have used these funds. Have you organised any courses or do you pay for advertising with the funds? I think it is cool that you don't cover your dobok with stripes and badges,,etc.. it seems like the more you study the less you need all of the memorabelia, that's another thing I like about Hapkido black belts,,, no stripes,, no offense to anyone who stripes their belts but I like the simplicity of it in Hapkido,, it reminds me of the mindset that we here in the U.S. kind of grew up on the idea of instructors being more like coaches and less like some occult figurehead that must be worshipped and obeyed,, I would much rather be thought of as a coach and teacher than some mystical grand pupah. Other than the fact that this man writes like a schitzophrenic who drinks too much coffee... An Exerpt from the Martial Child Abuse site: "Running, kicking, throwing, shooting a ball is just a game, there is nothing inherently masculine or feminine in it, but it is the way that men and womin behave personally and in relation to each other that makes it so, running and kicking a ball and developing ball handling and shooting skills within a team isn't enough, what they want is girls being antagonistic and aggressive toward each other and roughing each other up, they want girls running into each other, knocking each other down and kicking one another, the inhuman fiends get a perverse pleasure out of it, what they want is to use these sports to get girls involved in femininely destructive behaviors rather than simply adapting the game to the way girls would naturally want to pay it if they were allowed the freedom to do so." "While soccer is a common, and it seems, the preferred tool for perverting girls behavior, far worse are those parents force their daughters to play hockey or football and the worst of all is forcing them into the martial arts, which is neither sport nor art, it is an extreme and inhuman form of abuse." see: << http://www.libertocracy.com/Webessays/Sports/abuse/Martial_Child_Abuse.htm and the link to "destroy their femininity" for a good laugh! Gotta be honest, all: I could not stop laughing as I read this. I printed it out and my husband & I laughed together. As a "Womin" myself (with a daughter who prefers wrenches to dolls), I got the distinct feeling that this author (George Flanagan) was less concerned about the welfare of girls (and boys) and more concerned that his image of a world where girls and women were forced into predefined passively stereotyped "feminine" roles was being subverted by a society that now offers girls more choices regarding sports participation, career choice, and personal control than their mothers and grandmothers had. Girls and ~women~ now have the ~liberty~ of ignoring peer pressure, or even better, ~agressively~ confronting its phoney restrictions and their proponents. While talking up "Liberty", George Flanagan has a funny way of insuring his own wants and liberties through his confused political organization's rantings, while explaining away everyone else's rights as expendable abherations. Poor man. I guess no kindly "womin" ever pulled him aside and told him the facts--a woman is a woman is a woman. A woman is a female. Therefore, whatever a woman is or does...is feminine in the truest sense of the word whether she is wearing a flowery dress and poofy hairdoo, or greasy mechanic's coveralls and a baseball cap. To heck with people who lament the loss of "femininity"--it's all around you!! Unless you live in a men's locker room...That anyway, is the view of me, just a "womin". ;-) Best to All on the List, Chaney P.S., is this why we have only 2 major political parties in this country? ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 20:18:25 PDT Subject: Re: the_dojang: Girls & Wimmin Currupted by Marshal Arts!! > An Exerpt from the Martial Child Abuse site: Wow! 140 words in just a single sentence. Here is another funny link to George Flanagan's site, this one on HOW to "feminize" (his definition, not mine) sports. essentially, all the female sports he proposes ("basketballa", "softballa", etc.) nearly completely do away with competitiveness and winning, and instead seek to substitute large doses of cooperativeness and sharing (things team sports like basketball and softball ~already~ encourage--without the silly "a" on the end). It is worth a look because.... Link: http://www.libertocracy.com/Valentrium/Culture/Activities/1Sports/Femins_sports.htm ....because it is important to be aware that there are still some people in American who are very fearful of the innate desire that many girls (like boys) have to compete, win, and be strong. It kinda reminds me of the Ayatoallah Khomeini's "equalizing" and "liberating" females by forcing them all to wear the chador (head & neck cover), stop competing in all physical sports, and banning them from certain occupational "masculine" fields. Dropping action for the sake of appearence. Maybe instead of teaching women difficult, competitive things mathamatics, we can just have them cooperatively arrange numbers together in pretty patterns.
