I have been studying TKD for 2 years and enjoy it immensely and will continue to study it until I draw my last breath. From my limited experience, I have noticed that TKD does not "focus" on grappling, ground work, and joint manipulation/PP but there are limited techniques that address these issues within TKD. I also know there are lots of arts that do focus heavily on those topics. My question is this. Which one(s) of these "grappling" arts best compliments TKD. I realize opinions will vary with each individual. What I am looking for is what is your opinion as to which "grappling art would best compliment TKD and why. Thanks in advance for your comments. These arts ar so different in origin and customs than my main, I wouldn't know where to begin. Thanks again for your help. Hilland www.geocities.com/hapkiyukwonsul Yes, GM Ji also teaches some ground techniques in his HKD, but what I learned wasn't anything similar to what we typically see in, say, catch wrestling or BJJ. e.g. a bridge or fighting from the guard. My take on ground fighting is that it is seldom a good idea, but sometimes you just don't have a choice. What ground fighting techniques do you teach? He will retain his position at the Kukkiwon/WTF and the Olympic positions. The article repeated the rumours that the 'younger' leaders of the KTA were dissatisfied with his leadership.
